This was found while I was just looking over the news and an idea of "could this be their planet?" came to mind.

The planet is believed to be six times bigger then Jupiter's mass!

news.bbc.co.uk...

Whats your thoughts ?

Hi,
Not sure if their home is there or not.... but with a mass like that would have thought the gravitational force would be incredible

Peace!

Thats pretty cool (being that its 2.3 million light years away)!

I myself hope to hear more about Alpha Centauri the closest star system only 4.3 light years away.

"Alpha Centauri consists of two reasonably Sun-like stars" A & B (see link)

" To study planet formation around Alpha Centauri B, the team ran repeated computer simulations, evolving the system for the equivalent of 200 million years each time. Because of variations in the initial conditions, each simulation led to the formation of a different planetary system. In every case, however, a system of multiple planets evolved with at least one planet about the size of Earth. In many cases, the simulated planets had orbits lying within the habitable zone of the star." (quote from article)

Are you being thrown off by the words "first" and "galaxy"?

We have found (by my last count
) at least 300 exo-planets IN our galaxy (the good old Milky way).

I have a feeling your excitement is due to a basic lack of knowledge of size and structure...

We live on the third planet from Sol (our sun) which lives in a solar system of seven other planets with many moons and other large objects [asteroids, comets, planetoids, etc]

Our Solar System is one of perhaps 100 Billion in the Milky Way Galaxy which is about 100,000 Light-years Across.

Most recent estimates on how many Galaxies there are runs into the hundreds of billions as well.

Think of it this way;

Earth is your House
Sol system is your home town
The Orion arm (of the Milky Way) is your State
The Milky Way is your Country
The Local Group of Galaxies is your continent
The Universe is your whole world.

basic astronomy

Everyone has to start somewhere.

[edit on 14/6/2009 by whiskeypoet]- Had the Milky Way before the Orion arm oops... Fixed

franky, if aliens live their, then even there bugs would be built like a brick sh*t house, because of the huge gravity.

I also imagine they would be fairly short.

Totally agree! Still not sure if that their home there or not but if they're there they must be extremely strong albeit flat.

Peace!

' Their' homeplanet? WHO are you reffering to? What Beings do you have in mind?

Andromedae has a planetary system with three confirmed planets of 0.71 times, 2.11 times, and 4.61 times the mass of Jupiter so maybe, possibly there is some Life out there.

6 times Jupiter sounds awfully huge tho.

My knowledge of which Planets have similar Beings like humans is limited but it's nice to think about any possibility though.

Would a Consious 'Energy' of Pure Sound and/or Light count as an Alien Race?
