U.S. President Barack Obama met with members of Egypt's Islamist opposition movement, the Muslim Brotherhood, earlier this year, according to a report in Thursday editions of the Egyptian daily newspaper Almasry Alyoum.
The newspaper reported that Obama met the group's members, who reside in the U.S. and Europe, in Washington two months ago.
According to the report, the members requested that news of the meeting not be publicized. They expressed to Obama their support for democracy and the war on terror.
Special sources reported to Al Masry El Youm, that a delegation from the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) Association met with US President Obama, in Washington, two months earlier. This meeting was arranged in response to a request made by the MB's leaders in regards to the MB wanting to express their views concerning a number of current political issues.
The sources added that the delegation was joined by an Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood member who was living in the United States of America, as well as an Egyptian political leader who was living in a European country.
The sources referred to the fact that "The Muslim Brothers had requested that this meeting be confidential."
On his part, Professor Mohammed Habeib, the first Vice-President of Muslim Brotherhood Association general leader, denied the occurrence of such a meeting.
Furthermore, Professor Habeib told Al Masry El Youm: "Such an event never happened and could never happen, as Muslim Brotherhood Association members outside Egypt seek our advice on every level."
The Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's largest opposition group, on Saturday said US President Barack Obama's speech to the world's 1.5 billion Muslims showed the "cunning of the masters of the Zionist/American project against the sons of the Muslim nation."
The Muslim Brotherhood is banned in Egypt, and its members are routinely arrested, but Brotherhood-affiliated lawmakers hold 20 per cent of the seats in the Egyptian parliament as independents.
Members of the Brotherhood's parliamentary bloc attended the speech at the invitation of al-Azhar University and Cairo University, but the White House on Wednesday tacitly confirmed that the US government played a role in making sure they were invited.
The Muslim Brotherhood "must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions." -- "An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Brotherhood in North America," by Mohamed Akram, May 19, 1991.
And in America? The Muslim Brotherhood "must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."

I don't think he's muslim. He could be .. but at this point I don't think so.
I think his religion is PANDER. Whoever he has in front of him at the time
is the group that he panders and plays to.
But I could be wrong. He could be Muslim at heart. We'll probably never know.

The president met with a special interest group? Well, that's certainly unprecedented. Stop the presses!
