Why would you want to delete it, or the join date posted?

Just curious along with Heyo. Seem quite odd if you ask me, you can get off and never get back on. If you self concious, your on a computer noone knows who you really are, you could be Jennifer Aniston for all we know!

i used to get frustrated when i first started. you can't just jump in, ya know. i noticed you just joined today?
...try and be truthful to yourself in what you say and you'll pick the rest up via experience.

Yeah, I agree with these guys, cuz they registered before I did.

Seriously though, date of registration isn't important. At least it's nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone has to start somewhere. My husband has been a member here years longer than I have, but that's still not enough to give his posts any credibility imo.

Of course there are those who think differently about the matter and believe that long-time members like Heyo up there are sharing knowledge from the divine consciousness. However, I think most veteran members are less likely to take everything around here seriously, so they generally have a better sense of humor.

Anyway, welcome! I hope you give the site a chance after all. We're not all elitists. (Just give your posts a quick once-over before you click the button please, that's all I expect of anyone.)

Agreed if that is the case.

I mean people still discount anything I say, because i'm not at a one year mark, or because I find Dr. Who entertaining. I get hell for that, especially since my name is republican! So many foes have I turned to friends I speak with frequently on here!

I'm a college student with great knowledge and a High IQ, but we are all equal and some may know ten times more then me in one thing, the little pixels next to you pixelated name mean nothing.

Heyo has earned respect and if he was here right now, only because he asked please, I would hand him a beer!

Points don't matter, read every thread, treat everyone as you would have them treat you.

Your what, assuming you 17 by that being your birthday assuming in your username?

Thats not bad dude, as long as your here, your welcome, and whoever is being an egotistical jackatt t for s, should be underhanded and ignored easy as that.

Youll make friend man, i'm off to sleep, hope you stay on and enjoy it bro.

Dont worry, everything i say gets discounted as well generally.

Same story with like 99% of ATS IMHO.

Some people just become popular and create like thousands of super flagged threads

FoxMulder91, you have nothing to worry about. I will star all of your posts, because you make me think of X-Files and I get all warm and fuzzy inside.

Yep. And in 2020 when half of us don't even come here anymore, you'll still be going steady and have an impressive joining date!

I think alot of why lies in how ATS rewards it's users for posts and threads.

Attention or noticeability doesn't, and shouldn't, substitute for overall intelligence and maturity level. But still.. Someone posting a new thread is going to get alot more people looking at their threads if they've been here a while. Thus, the newer people trying to bring up valid and thoughtful discussion get lost in the background.

With the star system, people would post stuff like

"Great post! Starred and flagged"

And they would get like 20 stars for their post.
That doesn't make any sense at all, man. That's something that could've been handled via U2U. How does it contribute to the discussion in any way? Yet, they would get the stars and the points.

Also, some people sit on ATS all day waiting for new threads. Take 2 or 3 highly popular threads in any one section of the discussion boards here and chances are the first page is always going to be posts from the same members.

Just because of how ATS works statistically, someone posting a thoughtful, well-sourced, valid argument on page 1 is going to get more stars and points than someone posting that same content on page 10. There's a few reasons for this.. But, mainly, I think it's just because most people don't read the whole thread; just the first few pages.

How it all works.. It isn't perfect and I think the mods and the ATS leadership all know this. That is one reason they just did-away with the old points system. I don't think any one way of crediting members for their efforts is going to be perfectly fair and reasonable. There's simply alot you just can't program when it comes to member activities and members giving other members stars and flags.

But it still is generally true that threads from the newer folks just get washed out by all the other ATS activity. When it could have been an extremely thought-provoking and interesting thread. It just hits a brick wall sometimes. I can attest to that.

Recently, I posted alot of other comments on this matter in the ATS Issues thread. You can see that post HERE .
