I think I witnessed chemicals being spread over my town...

I had never heard of Chemtrials before comming to ATS. So when this happened to me I was not aware there was a name for what I had experienced until now. After reading about this on ATS I decided I must have witnessed one of these. Back in September of 2001, when we were still very skidish after 9/11 I was outside on my back deck. I looked up and seen a huge purple cloud hanging over the town I live in. It scared me to death, with all the news of terrorist attacks, biological and chemical warfare I freaked out. I got the phone book out and called my local enviornmental agency, health department and sheriffs office. They all acted like I was a nut, so I did what any person who did not want to be taken away in a striaght jacket would do I agreed I must have made a mistake in what I saw and I left it alone. I went back outside and watched the cloud disapate over the town and then I went on with my life. I have not thought much more about it untill reading about this stuff on here. What do yall think it was? And why were the authorities acting like I was a nut when I know what I saw was real and plain as day to anyone that looked up. No I was not on drugs and no I do not suffer from a mental illness or have delusions. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this?

Ok maybe it was not a chemtrail, I did not see a plane around that day emitting the purple cloud and it was not in a straight line it was a cloud a huge purple low lying cloud. So what was it? I did not know what else to call it and your post makes since debunking the whole chemtrail thing. So if this thing wasn't a chemtrail then what was it?
