Before there were 9/11 Truth meetings Dr Jones was on another talk circuit

archive.deseretnews.com...

Pretty cool idea. From Cold Fusion to Solar cookers for third world countries to taking on 9/11 one piece of dust at a time.

Jones is a self-declared devout Mormon. As a physics professor at Brigham Young, a Mormon College, Jones engaged in carbon dating and other scientific tests trying to demonstrate the existence of Israelites who came to America thousands of years ago.

To date, no archeologist, anthropologist, historian, has found a shred of evidence that confirms these claims.

The only documentation comes from a Golden Book found by Joseph Smith Jr. in the 1820s. It was in a wooden box buried in upstate New York. The Angel Moroni who led Smith to the Golden Book took it back. So we only have a claim it ever existed. Nonetheless the writing in the books are the basis of the Mormon faith.

So Jones has a previous history of doing research on claims for which there has been no scientific validation.

Jones was not the only one to find thermite in the dust, there was that Danish scientist and another person who have publically stated as much.

There was another guy who was claiming Jones as a CIA fake, but provided no evidence, only innuendo and suggestion:

Stephen Jones CIA Fake

Of course, this guy believes every 9/11 truth site out there is run by the CIA, that all 9/11 theories to date are CIA disinformation. For what purpose I do not know.

Is Jones a CIA disinfo agent? Who knows? I find his research and claims to be interesting and I take note of it. While I do think that the WTC was brought down via explosives, the exact nature is up in the air for me. Jones has presented a possibility, a possibility that I think is worth looking into. No one else has brought anything else forth that can be considered rational. Space beams, nukes, and mind control waves don't cut it for me.

Jones is given too much credit. A physics prof at a Mormon University - but with ambitions. Attaches himself to Cold Fusion research. If there could be nuclear energy released at normal conditions it would be monumental. But it turned out to be attention grabbing not breakthrough science.

Later research on trying to substantiate Mormon articles of faith, a Christian community in America thousands of years ago. For which zero evidence has ever emerged.

As late as 2002 Jones was personally giving public demonstrations for a smoke free barbecues system.

His elevation to scientific stardom came with his tests he claims show evidence of thermitic material in World Trade Center debris.

Objective scientists worldwide have looked at it. No proper protocols, no controls, no double blind, no way of reproducing claimed results. Bonafide peer review journals won't touch it. Jones paid $700 to place it in a vanity journal of a United Arab Emirates company.

As thermite is neither an effective explosive that could be used to do much damage to steel beams, it's existence in the rubble is a moot point. It can also have been created as a fallout of materials in the building recombining. His test material is most likely the red oxide paint used to coat steel beams.

Harrit, and a handful of non-specialists in chemistry or engineering, some just Truther website personnel, join the party.

Jones gets his Wikipedia entry, hundred of online references, and is a Truther Prophet.

His 15 minutes of fame.
