'Confidential' U.S. nuke info posted on Web

washingtontimes.com

The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) mistakenly published on the Internet Tuesday a detailed 268-page dossier disclosing the addresses and specifications of hundreds of U.S. nuclear weapons-related facilities -- including reactors.

You know what for all of the security leaks that have been taking place this has to be one of the bigger ones that's taken place at least for the last 10 years or so. Problem is the data wasnt leaked out it wasnt blackmailed out it was just so called accidentily released.

Nuke info / data is highly controled info im wondering here how exactly how did the washington times first find out about it and secondly whats the GPO doing releasing it?

dont worry

the Chinese and Russians already had spies in this locations decades ago

there is nothing important at any of these locations, any intelligence agency in the world worth a damn would already know all about them in great detail

same goes with any of their facilities, they have all been infiltrated as well

*hehe...*

Scary info, I would hate to see what this could open doors for, either planned or no. Hopefully it didn't get into that many crazy people's hands before it was found.

Don't you love how they use the word accident and nuclear so calmly without creating a panic. Nice to see those thin tanks know what they are doing when they want to down play an incident of this importance.

Setting up of a back story prehaps?

Of all the worst case scenarios in terrorism, wether beit legit or other wise, this is my worst fear..where ever it goes off, there is no where to run when you see the light..

You wanna see it too? It's available on wikileaks

www.wikileaks.com...

Now how screwed up is THAT???

Absolutely ridiculous! This is beyond the pale of stupidity. Lets tell our enemies what ever they want to know. Let's give the grand tour if they please. It as though they are making us vulnerable on purpose. It's a shame that this kind of information was made public. I'm beginning to think all these mistakes are on purpose because of their frequency. Now the whole world knows our nuclear deterrent and contingency plans! I'm furious!

This is the government that is supposed to keep us safe? Pathetic.
Another argument for small government with non-interventionist world views.

This is just unbelievable.

WHat happened to wiki leaks? I get a page saying this document is damaged and can not be repaired.

CAN SOMEONE WHO HAS IT REPORT IT IN R.A.T.S.?

I would like to know if I live near a nuclear missile site... I chose this location for its survivability. It would suck to know it was in vain.

The report is up on Federation of Atomic Scientist site
www.fas.org... 13MB

It was the US declaration of nuclear regulated sites to the IAEA.

In the documentation it mentions public law 109-401.

Which is defined here:

www.gpo.gov...

Not sure what it all means but thought I would post the info.

What's the big deal?

We're supposed to be a free society right?

Doesn't everyone love Freedom?

The suppression of information leads to opposite of freedom.

Communism, Fascism, Anarco-Capitalism? Or some other crap where talented and smart people are not rewarded for their efforts. Our problem is that they have gotten so far ahead of everyone else they are crushing everyone else. We cannot bear the oppresive weight of collective stupidity and excessive greed of the rich or the poor any longer.

They already released this information to the UN for Christs sake. They trust (elites from foreign powers) but not the masses. I think this may be an attempt to communicate with the dis-enfranchised in American society. Either that or they are telling us where they are vulnerable. There appears to be a cold war between the ruling elite and the people.

They may be in power currently but they are nervous for sure.

So are you more free now that this info has been released? Did this somehow give you more freedom than you had yesterday?

It should go without saying that we should have the freedom to not worry that some crackpot is going to go try to steal something or blow something up because some idiot posted this on the internet. Now we no longer have that freedom. There are some things that shouldn't be posted online. This would be one of them.

THis is old information that was previously released to leaders in foreign nations.

Informed anarchists are the ruling elites worst nightmare.

The elite are scared of loose cannons and wild cards, not nation states.

They game the entire system in an attempt to stay in power.

phooey, looks like the wikileaks link is down.

AS IF the 'enemy' didn't already have an copy

This was done to simmer down the outraged folks to give them a sense that they are safer than before

The FAS link is down as well, wow the elites work fast

I think 'certain' people are more upset that other people will know if they are within the kill zone than upset that the enemy knows this.

This is not new info.

It won't be long before someone torrents it.

edit: oops looks like the links are still active (?), I just went into panic mode

sorry folks!

Honestly, this is not a big deal at all.....if you read the preface of the document it says that it is classified by the IAEA as Highly Confidential Safeguards Sensitive’’; however, the United States regards this information as ‘‘Sensitive but Unclassified.’’ Which means that it is not even sensitive enough to have a classification....so no biggy.

They have some interesting info here but contained within the document:

The IAEA classification of the enclosed declaration is ‘‘Highly Confidential Safeguards Sensitive’’;

however, the United States regards this information as ‘‘Sensitive but Unclassified.’’

Nonetheless, under Public Law 109–401, information reported to, or otherwise acquired by, the United States Government under this title or under the U.S.-IAEA Additional Protocol shall be exempt from disclosure under section 552 of title 5, United States Code.

BARACK OBAMA.

THE WHITE HOUSE, May 5, 2009.

There is some interesting info like the development of 'Technetium metal' (page 99)

There isn't any super juicy stuff here. I think that while the true tech advancements of the ruling class is dozens of years ahead of what we know, the stuff covered in this document only divulges tech progress stuff that the average person doesn't know about. I haven't looked through the whole document though.

I would need to use the printer or turn the monitor on its side to read it.

All the post september 2001 era agencies and security bodies created could not prevent this from happening, that must be a sign.

"These screw-ups happen,” said John M. Deutch, a former director of central intelligence and deputy secretary of defense who is now a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
