I did have a nice long post about the cut up scripture on that page, but
I decided just to ask you a few questions instead and well Hopefully others will answer that questions as well.

If September 11th happened, with 19 christian hijackers would you feel the same way about Christianity that you are showing towards Islam?

Yes, there are extreme Christians out there same as many other religions.

Before 9/11 did you even care about Islam?
If so, enough to go out and spread hate about it?

If your that upset about Islam getting an awareness day in Hawaii, how Would you react if they made a Satanic awareness day? ( as in Laveys Church of Satan) Pagan, Druid, New Age, and or some other smaller religion.

I'm sure that artvandalay's opion is unpopular and politically incorrect, but I have to agree with him. That link that showed all the things that have offended muslims is great.

The problem as I see it is, if you offend anyone else, they can insult you, stop frequenting your business, maybe even punch you in the face, but if you offend a muslim, you run the risk of decapitation. And as shown by the link above, it is really easy to offend a muslim.

I think that we should accept muslims and live peacefully with each other. The problem is I don't think that even the most moderate muslims share the sentiment.

Interesting, but your forgetting the logic in this, if all those things truly offended muslims so much to get so violent, then every area with muslims in the western world would become a damn warzone.

Which of course is not the reality. Most are simply normal people who do not want to offend you as you would not want to offend others.

I agree with you, I believe that most westernized muslims are normal, rational people who just want to live and let live. The problems are with people who would cause Salman Rushdie to go into hiding for a decade over a silly book, setting embassies on fire over cartoons, Theo van Gogh being murdered over a movie. Its a little over the top.

On the other hand, religious zelots from all faiths are dangerous and crazy. Look at the guy who killed the abortion doctor over the weekend. The issue I have with muslims is that is "seems" that there are more religious zelots that pray to that god than any other group. I put the word seems in quotes because it might just be how it seems and not how it is, but I don't know any different.

regarding the OP, I don't have a problem with it. I do think it'd be simpler if every religion/group worshipped their own days ON the dates that their holdays occur.

Perhaps this would be a good time to point out that we are talking about the United States, and the U.S. already has its selected group of holidays. These are the ones that will be observed by governmental agencies. They are reflected in the beliefs of the majority of the U.S. citizens, INCLUDING Halloween, my very favorite observation time, although technically it isn't a holiday.

I would be completely against holidays of different cultures being imposed upon the U.S. as a governmental holiday, however I have no problem with anyone observing a holy/special day on their own time.

America is a melting pot of cultures, and that's part of what makes it great. There are traditions, and beliefs and holidays crafted around those ideals. It's history, and often history worth remembering.
