I've heard that when we die, we might arrive at a place where we encounter a being of light that we perceive as Jesus or some other divine being. We might also meet close relatives that are ready to welcome us.

This sounds like home to me. I'd be ready to happily follow Jesus, or Buddha, and my relatives to where ever they lead me.

But the scariest conspiracy theory of all, at least to me, is that this collection of beings are a band of tricksters, whose motivation is to manipulate us into willingly reincarnating back into this beautiful cesspool of a planet where they can continue to feed off of our emotions.

I have no idea as to whether this conspiracy is true, but, to me, it is the scariest conspiracy theory of all.

Do you have any comments?

This sounds like something from the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

After the spirit leaves there are some beings who willingly, like you mentioned, appear before you. They are apparently testing to see if you still have "desire". If you do, the Karmic response is to return for another lifetime as human or other.

I simply skimmed through this book years ago so please take my explanation ONLY as a recommendation for further reading.

Disclaimer: I'm a theist but not of the Abrahamic faiths. I have minor biblical scholar and scriptural skills. Also I am not a scientific/legal or medical expert in any field. Beware of my Contagious Memes! & watch out that you don't get cut on my Occams razor. All of this is my personal conjecture and should not be considered the absolute or most definitive state of things as they really are. Use this information at your own risk! I accept no liability if your ideology comes crashing down around you with accompanying consequences!

Explanation: Hmmm? Maybe the things we feed upon see and feel the same way about us. Food for thought I say so well done OP Starred and Flagged!

Personal Disclosure: I don't mind emotions being feed upon as long as I still have a choice in how I feel!

Edited to add: I wonder what disgruntlement tastes like? Bitter? Sour? Cheesy?

This is true. After death, most people, who do ascend, will go to a place that resembles the heaven of their beliefs or desires. They will stay for a period of time then re-incarnate in what ever form is appropriate and continue resolving imperfections. Because of the amount of secondary karma we all create in our daily lives, the amount of primal, original sin, karma that is exhausted is small. The debt of secondary karma keeps growing which is why most people seem to get away with wrong behavior. Every deed is deep in in the queue of debts to pay in the future. The being that we see is not usually coming from a nefarious motive, rather from a benevolent one. However they must first meet with the angel of death and be judged. The "Jesus" or friend or relative image, knows no more about the working of the creation that the spirit being met. The point is that the regions of matter are very vast and include higher and higher percentages of spirit and therefore more and more beautiful places. Spirits near the top of the material regions may not incarnate for vast periods of time but reincarnate they will. The being who incarnate such as Buddha or Jesus or even the writers of the Vedas where also deceived by this process and will, themselves incarnate over and over again. The Devil is benevolent so far as his self interest is concerned. He resides at the top of the material regions. He does not want any spirit to know of the true cosmology and nature of the world. He is trying all deceptions and trying to imitate true spirituality and true religion. This is all in vain, of course, the true Supreme Being is above all the regions of matter, the source and creator of the material regions and holds all the cards. The devil has been given the material regions but has no real life or power of his own. He lives off of the energy of the spirits trapped here. It is in his person interest, therefore to oppose the spirits leaving his domain. Try as he might, he can really do little or nothing except expedite the eradication of primal karma in his attempts to fake the material worlds as a wonderful place.

It is a good sign that you take this seriously. This is the most important deception. Everyone dies, takes nothing with them, is accountable for everything they do, wastes their lives pursuing the worthless, may be unable to ascend at death and need to spend time in hell to remove strong worldly attachments created during every life time. Pain and pleasure are both forms of dissipation and waste of spirit we are perpetually in this trap.

However, the true Supreme Being is all merciful. We are not in this process for nothing. It is a game but one of benevolent intent and conclusion. Our spirits will return to the purely spiritual worlds. Don't be deceived by the Tinkerbell syndrome. The lord is all powerful, a magic want could be waved eliminating all hardships, troubles and pains in life but that would not be in the long term best interests of the spirit. It would only postpone the efforts required to exhaust the primal imperfections. Such conditions can not be more mercifully exhausted by any other process. Allowing the individual to express and exhaust their imperfections by desire is the best way. The lord is all merciful. Seek him with sincere yearning and he will beat a path to your door.
