Hi there, I wonder if this is a warning of an earthquake to come near South Africa? Remember back a few months ago in Melbourne , Australia. Many whales came ashore close by in Tasmania then a big quake shook melbourne.

Its certainly a bit of a mystery in my opinion.

i think the whales in Australia beached a couple of days before the quake, so mabye a quake in a few days time??

Or it could be the pollution.

There is no 100% sure link between anything and beachings, just lots of coincidences.

Still so sad, though.

I wonder how many "coincidences" it takes till something is just considered fact? those whales in australia were not the first to link whales/dolphins beaching themselfs before an earthquake i think this is the 4th time now where ive read about it (5th time if it happens in south africa) some believe that the grinding of the plates days before the quake lets off a loud sound underwater (like banging on a fishtank) it would drive me mad too to get away from that sound. just a thought

just as a side note: i could see one whale beaching it self by accident, But fifty? now that does seem a bit odd

Whales and such might be more sensitive to these underwater plate noises. Perhaps it somehow interferes with or confuses their sonar senses?

i agree. imagine how loud a plate movement would be under the ocean for a whales hearing.

Maybe nothing will come of this, but its certainly worth noting as this has happened many times before

Were there any beaching along the Gulf before or after the quakes that hit Mexico?

I believe the last time ( in melbourne or close to it) it took about 3 days or so so i guess we will find out come sunday or monday i am very interested in this story to see if this will happen. also if i lived in south africa i would start to prepare for a big quake. If it doesnt happen then i guess there is no connection

One time whilst riding the ferry between Seattle and Bainbridge Island I say a baby pilot whale jump out of the water like a dolphin. It is a cherished memory. It had a flat front end and was dark so I assumed that's what it was.

i have now read that most of these whales have been put down. pretty sad.

will be keeping an eye on the earthquake website for the next few days

I don't know about earthquakes or tsunamis but I feel really bad for all the whales and dolphins that keep beaching themselves. So sad...

I think ocean life is effected by nuclear submarines, pollution, drilling for oil, radars, HAARP and the such. Who knows what the military of the worlds are doing under our oceans..These governments are a plague on all life forms on the planet.

I have to agree that this is extremely sad, it truly breaks my heart. Although, it was a relief to see in the video that so many people were out there trying to save as many of these beautiful creatures as possible.
Whether or not there will be a huge quake coming from this, only time will tell.

maybe they just wanted a tan? has the obsession of vanity finally reached into the sea?

i am joking of course

i have no idea what could be causing this
it sure is sad tho, i cant imagine what it would be like being on a beach with 50 dieing whales around you.

You might have been right on this one.

Just cheaking another thread and maybe there is alot more substance with the most recent earthquakes and realation to whales beaching. Lil kim ain't helping matters either.

One idea that I haven't seen talked about as to the reasons for the beaching, is a diruption in the earth's magnetic lines. We know that many mammals use the earth's magnetism for navigation, especially migratory birds.
Could there be a disruption in this field causing the whales to continually beach themselves?? More investigation into this might yeild a few more answers.
