I am watching another episode of UFO Hunters on History Channel, and once again I am laughing at it. Is it supposed to be satire? When you watch it with the opinion that it is satire, it is actually quite funny.

The deep-voiced, stern narrator. The quick camera cuts, zooming and panning abruptly. The somber, sardonic, and intense background music. The wide-eyed, enthusiastic interviews and summations by the hosts.

And don't get me started on the investigations. Tonight they are hacking their way through scrub brush looking for burn spots from a UFO. A few weeks ago they were sea kayaking in the dark looking for green orbs spotted by night-time shark fishermen. That one was classic -- one of the hosts lost radio contact out on the water, and it was quit tense. Hmmmmm, was he abducted? Cue the scary music...oh phew, there he is! Not abducted!

Quotes from tonight: "Are alien abductions real, or just figments of people's imaginations?"

"With each sighting, another piece of the puzzle falls into place... go online and join the search for the truth... and buy UFO Hunters on DVD!"

PT Barnum said it, there is a sucker born every minute...and I guess History Channel thinks UFO believers are suckers, who will buy the DVD.

that show is moronic.
i wish they would come to some REAL conclusion.

i mean.......................
its all these "experts" reviewing videos then saying they dont know.
then they test some sort of "mysterious" proof of an alien encounter and either come up with no conclusion or its something ridiculous. (one episode the proof turned out to be nothing more than bird feces)

the problem is that

THEY dont know what the government have ... so ... they always will say, yeah, its a ufo ... could be alien or could be some top secret program ...

who knows....HOW THE HELL WILL THEY KNOW?

if you are expecting for some UFO proof ... well, I think you should think better ...

OMG, thanks for the laugh. I loved it so much I starred you, flagged you, and made you my friend. Wow, I suddenly feel a need for a smoke after all that.

Anyway you are so right. That Bill guy is smoking alien crack. I bet the inside of his ball cap is lined with tin foil so the aliens dont intercept his knowing that he knows that they know that he knows.

I dunno dude, for a deranged crackpot he seems pretty on the level, that is if you believe that you're Abe Lincoln. UFO Hunters is a joke, because if they were real hunters, they would have starved to death by now.

Its a great show guys, why should they always have a firm conclusion? Why not have some cases that go a certain way against what we want?

Why does everything have to be up to our likeing?

This is a show, and it does have faults, but for the most part they do a great job, and they are doing more then most of us in terms of actually getting this type of thing out there and in the open.

It amazes me how some people posting on ATS can really believe that UFO hunters is a legit show. Now why would ol' Big Brother allow some "expert" to broadcast his opinions about alien life, and investigate to that extent. If you really wanna know the truth, don't watch a show on TELEVISION.

I think an even better PT Barnum quote is "We have something for everyone".

And when you see me writing extensive threads on MAINSTREAM MEDIA, that include DISCOVERY CHANNEL, HISTORY CHANNEL, A&E, ETC ETC ETC.

They are all mainstream garbage, turn off your TV and read.

I wondered that too--why are you wearing shades indoors? Then I saw his tic or eye issue. (He has a nerve disorder which makes him blink a lot), so I assume he is self conscious of this, and thus the shades..

The one episode last week with all those lights landing in one area near JFK (it WAS JFK!). if you pause and go forward frame by frame, you can CLEARLY see the airplanes wing lights strobe every 5 seconds...

Less BS, more hardcore investigations. Be ruthless with interviews..

I agree with you. UFO Hunters is a good show. I like the mythbusters too, and they are not exactly all scientific either, but to me it's a good show nevertheless.

Sometimes I think people take conspiracy too far.

the trouble with you people is you already have your minds made up. you think the government would never let a show like this happen. it's disinformation, it's [snip]a joke.. the old guy wears sunglasses a lot so that means the show sucks.

well let me tell you something. people have been investigating UFO's for CENTURIES. If you are thickheaded enough to think that this TV show should find some superior evidence of ET's or some grand conclusion to the UFO phenomena, then I don't know what to tell you.

just because something not on this super duper secret forum doesn't take any less credibility from it. these guys on here obviously want to believe in alien life. maybe the gov thinks they're a joke, maybe it's disinformation simply by letting it air. if they even tried to cut it, all the people at the network would know why, and all the viewers would know why.

back to the sunglasses. really? you're making fun of someone's appearance. [snip]
anyway. UFO hunters has only been on for a year. you expect something [snip] amazing to happen in that period? [snip]
I know that hating popular things makes you cool on this forum or anywhere on the internet. but it's good to turn on the tv now and again and see some UFO related stuff. I don't like staying on the computer all day, and I read constantly but it's not something I want to do 24 hours a day.

I noticed the same thing. Sometimes I watch programmes on History Channel and not only UFO Hunters but all the programmes shown there have the same kind of 'American Twist'.

Tought at first that it was due to the many adds shown in between and labelled it as 'typical American'. I don't take the info seriously,
they repeat the same parts over and over. They use old formula and hang onto that. It's a pitty, they can do so much better with all the tools they use.

They use the same kind of format on everything. A new way, style, of making this kind of programma's would be much better for viewers and makers!

Till then: if you want to have a laugh watch UFO Hunters

PS I'm a REAL believer!

Last night I was watching the USO episode, and one of the people they were interviewing they filed him sitting out side on a deck through a window of what looked to be an old shack?

I was like WTF is that even..?

They should just cut the cheese BS and get to the facts at hand, for people searching for the truth they seem to be pretty damn blind to common sense and logic.

It's ashame that believers always get disgraced in such ways.

Glad it got a chuckle.

I took it seriously at first, but then it just wore me down and now it makes me laugh. Kind of like ATS in a way.

The History Channel as it currently exists with its myriad of paranormal subjects and cheaply produced reality programming on the lives of varous working class people is a joke to any definition of history. They really should change the name of the station at this point.

As for UFO Hunters. I don't watch the program, but if they're running around looking for UFOs they're going about it entirely the wrong way. If you have a television program the most logical thing would be to use that public voice to go after governments for what they know regarding well known UFO cases. There may not be a lot of content available when going about creating an ongoing series this way, but constant hammering at government and their knowledge on the subject should be required.

TV is show business and the purpose of UFO Hunters is to make a profit. They can do it however they want, they're just going about it in a way that won't lead to any actual truth or knowledge on the subject. Purposefully I'm sure.

maybee i am sucker in some peoples eyes for liking that show "never miss a new episode"
But I respect what they are doing, yes making a little money "you would" but at the same time they are getting peoples awareness on the subject of UFOs to a new level. What could be wrong with that? yes some of it is just entertainment but you have to get people to watch and then you slip a little truth in at the same time and spike there interest and maybee someday they will stumble onto some real evidence who knows

I'm a Skeptic but I must admit I watch UFO Hunters.

Sometimes Bill's claims make me laugh out loud, like the one time he said he firmly believed that somebody from the military had traveled back in time "around twenty years ago" or so.

I think it is ok to believe in UFOs, and not be a sucker. As ATS proves, there is a heck of a lot of UFO activity that is documented. Some of the theories as to what they are make make me laugh.

For the record, I am a believer, but am not a sucker, and it is hard to tell if History Channel is sincere about UFO Hunters. I imagine the producers and cameramen sitting around with the hosts and interview subjects dying of laughter. Then one of them says, "Get Serious! We are about to start recording."

And then they get serious. It just seems like a spoof, a mockumentary. When they roll out the PhDs to discuss, UFO Hunters is like a scientific version of This is Spinal Tap to me.
