This makes me sick. Thanks for posting it and the great thing was that there was an outrage and with pubic outcry the hospital was forced to let her put the flag back up! Bravo!

Just for the record...I guess that you read the whole article?
The person who wanted the flag to be taken down was not from Mexico, this person is from some country in Africa.

If you don't like our flag or the spirit of our revolution, go back to Mexico where you were born, and are from.

America for the Americans, and those elite wall street trashbags do not qualify.
Matter of fact they ought to be treated as those who commit treason, I'd love to see the federal(lol) reserve reduced to a pillar of ash. Ah, wishful thinking.

edit: btw, I know he is'nt from Mexico but now he is, since I says so.

There are 3 flags that I would kick an a** over...Old Glory, the flag of my state and the POW/MIA flag. Touch them only with positive intent, or find yourself on the receiving end of a good old fashion mudhole stomping.

Be offended by the flag if you like. I dont care. I am not easily offended, but I believe in give what I get, so I would most likely fire back. However, if my boss told me to take down a flag because some guy from Africa was offended, I would do just that...on my way out the door.
I would then file for unemployment and most likely be able to find a shaddy lawyer somewhere that would help me sue them for harrassment in the work place. I would head straight to the local news station and spill all for everyone to hear.

Screw anyone that comes out like that. Notice the immediate backpeddling done with "oh no, we werent saying that, we meant it was too big, thats all. I promise, she just misunderstood me when I said that the African man is offended by your flag, take it down." Freakin moron needs to be kneecapped.

As ridiculous as this is....it is a private business and they can pretty much do what they want. ***Edit to add: Yep, private business: Kindred Healthcare

But it seems if enough people complain, sometimes it works

Kindred Healthcare's corporate headquarters are located in Kentucky. We called them for comment when we were first working on this story Tuesday, but they did not return our calls.

Wednesday morning, however, our story received nationwide attention. We have received dozens of emails and comments from people who had something to say about it. And a receptionist at Kindred's headquarters told us they received many phone calls.

Then, late Wednesday morning, Kindred posted on its website a statement about the incident. It reads, in part: "The disagreement was over the size of the flag and not what it symbolized. We have invited the employee to put the flag back up."

While she keeps working there, if I were her, Id be actively searching for another job.

In another country, where she can be proud of her country (for the first time) and her flag... Hmm... Sounds vaguely familiar.

Someone already said it I think, but if you don't like the flag or America GTFO and stay out.

I would have laughed in the "supervisor's" face and asked him/her where they went through medical school at.

Where they got the funds to pay for it at.

How they'd been able to get their job - what country allowed for them to hold such a position and have such a life.

Sickening.

I can't even think of anything to say. This is making my blood boil. WE LET YOU INTO OUR COUNTRY, THE LEAST YOU COULD DO IS RESPECT HER FLAG!! Sorry for the caps.
I would love to know who this person is.

This is the kind of thing that makes me get into touch with my facist side.

Men and women have given their blood, work and soul into protecting this country, and they cannot do the least to honor them by putting up a flag without getting into trouble. I think it is time America gets out the weed-be-gone and gets rid of some people.

Yes I did. Still, there is no reason that she should have gone through having to take it down. It is still a very big deal in my mind.

it's absurd!! How can it be that a person, in a certain country, can not display their own country's flag!!??

I'm shocked. I can think of a lot of things which shouldn't be displayed but I'm honestly surprised!

Thanks for posting the story!

It should NEVER have happened to begin with...
Still being shocked or angry at the initial problem doesn't necesarily mean people didn't read it.

So let me ask you guys this. Is there a limit to where flags should be placed or a tasteful size of a flag which shouldn't be gone beyond? I ask because I have an annoying neighbor and I'd love to put a huge 11x17 flag over his windows and then when he protests call Homeland Security on him for being a terrorist and Anti-American. Maybe I'll make the news and become the forefront of Texan radio talk shows and be hailed as a true patriot.

Wow the cult of patriotism is freaky, its not much different than racism in my opinion... talk about mob mentality. Ones country is no different than mine, a piece of God given dirt governed by generation after generation of crooks who claim it as there own. Strip all the crap away and what do you have...people, heart, flesh and blood. Every single person has that no matter what "Great Nation" they call home. Pretty sad when someone needs to define themselves by there country or worship a piece of cloth. Same blind emotion you see in religion. (or the Oboma inauguration)

But if one wants to blaze a flag in their cubicle they can fill their boots its none of my business. But whats next, posters of your favorite teen idol?

I agree. There are some scary posts in this thread. The prevailing viewpoint seems to be unless you agree with the majority view you don't deserve to live in the country. Is America 'The Land of the Free' or 'The Land where you're free to think like everyone else'?

Sounds like the US is DEFINATELY becoming more like the UK everyday.

We can't show our National Flag's ( Either the Union Jack OR the St.George ) because someone MAY take offense at it, YET other nationalities can have there's emblazoned on their cars, clothes or houses , and as soon as an Englishman complains their branded a racist.

This world needs to get off the politically correct roundabout pretty soon otherwise its all gonna go downhill fast.

Unbelievable. The United States flag... Offensive...?

That's like going to a Rangers game and declaring their jersey offensive... That's like walking into a Starbucks, buying their coffee and asking the general employee for a manager causing trouble, all the while declaring that their wallpaper to be offensive.
Who DOES that?

That's like me going to the middle east and declaring headscarves an offense so that they must take them off... Totally absurd.

If you don't like this Nation enough to find the flag OFFENSIVE, do not COME to this country. Problem solved.
Whoever declared the NATION'S FLAG offensive should seriously leave, because there are plenty of people who live in this country who are proud of their heritage and would never remove their pride and joy, their symbol of freedom, just because someone didn't believe in it.

What this country has come to nowadays... *sigh*

The real problem is that the Hospital made the woman take it down just because ONE woman was offended. How ridiculous.

Actually, the article mentioned that the superisor who complained took down the flag personally, and then put it on the floor. That supervisor didn't even have the decency to put the flag on a desk or something. That part is in paragraph 6 & 7 I think.

I don't really understand this person's hatred toward the flag. If that supervisor has such hard feelings for what the flag stands for, then why even be here? Some people do strange things.

So you can actually burn the U.S flag in the streets of Manhattan as part of a protest but you can't just display it??

Pretty bad...
