Israel will stage its largest-ever national exercise next week to test security and emergency responses to potential missile attacks, bombings and natural disasters, an official said on Wednesday.
The five-day exercise begins on Sunday and will simulate simultaneous rocket strikes from the Gaza Strip and Lebanon and missile attacks from arch-foes Syria and Iran, Defense Ministry spokesman Shlomo Dror said.
"We will be exercising the doomsday scenario of simultaneous strikes against Israel on all fronts and by different means," Dror said, stressing that "such a scenario is highly unlikely."

The timing of this scares me more than anything. Although, Israel has had similar exercises in the past that have amounted to nothing.
Things really seem to be picking up speed though. Crazy times we live in.

The exercise itself is nothing new. After all, security drills are being held regularly. However, Israel has conducted exercises too often in a short period of time. They have recently conducted the largest air force exercises in its history in respectively Greece and near Gibraltar. The chance that Israel will be attacked on various fronts is more than likely in case of an Israeli attack on Iran.
Iran will throw in the Hezbollah card from the north, it's strong ally that has the Golan Heights as personal interest from the north-east, increased rockets attacks from Gaza as well as a full-scale missile attack from Iran.
The recent increase of preparations mean one thing: Israel is going ahead with a preemptive strike on Iran within a short period of time. They are either being told to wait by the Obama administration for negotiations to continue, but Israel is not going to let Iran get nuclear. Whether their motive is legit doesn't matter, they are going to attack Iran if they won't cease their nuclear enrichment program soon.
This scenario is not likely to happen while Israel's patience is running out. They have proved to act independently before and surely won't hesitate to do so again if it is deemed necessary.

Settlers: We are the answer to Iran
In response to nationwide home front drill, Shomron Regional Council offers to accommodate Israelis evacuated from all over Israel in event of unconventional missile attack
Israel's nationwide home front drill will reach its climax on Tuesday with a siren sounding across the country, but until then settler leaders are not sitting idly by and are preparing for the worst scenario – a barrage of missiles with unconventional warheads striking the country.
Shomron Regional Council head Gershon Mesika sent a letter to the defense establishment on Monday morning, offering to accommodate citizens at settlements in the event of a missile attack on Israel.
The Shomron Regional Council has been working on this plan for about three months, focusing on the offer to take in more than half a million people evacuated from all over the country in case of a war and a state of emergency.
The settlers plan to accommodate the evacuees in public buildings in the settlements, in family homes and in a "tent city" which will be built in outposts. According to the plan's initiators, the likelihood that the Samaria area will be attacked is low due to its proximity to the Palestinian population, among other things.Council head Mesika believes that the Samaria area must not be evacuated, as it is vital for the State's security.
"In addition to our natural right over the Land of Israel, the Samaria area is vital for the State from a security aspect, particularly in the face of the firing of unconventional missiles," he said.
"Samaria's residents are used to accommodate residents of bombed cities. This is what we have done in past wars and this is what we will do in a bigger state of emergency, which the State of Israel is practicing. Samaria is the right answer for the unconventional weapon threat and for the threats from Iran."
