in raven dreaming
sifts for me a thousand crows
I watch them scatter

black feather cloud caws
desert parrots blue on black
all smiles the jokesters

oh to know the joke
life on death from high so high
all the same, the same

you tower above me sweet
the birds know your soul

slum dog, no worries
joy -- a stale half a sandwich
lapping mud puddles

slum dog, no hurry
lovin' findin' on the street
no man his master

slum dog, remem'bring
loved once by a laughing girl
when once he was young

slum dog, ears lifted
woman crouching, shining tears
her love keeps him warm

last night a vision
October glows on purpose
then again today
