Child abuse shocks Ireland

www.winnipegsun.com

DUBLIN -- A long-delayed investigation into Ireland's Roman Catholic-run institutions says priests and nuns terrorized thousands of boys and girls in workhouse-style schools for decades -- and government inspectors failed to stop the chronic beatings, rapes and humiliation.

Nine years in the making, yesterday's 2,600-page report sides almost completely with the horrific reports of abuse from former students sent to more than 250 church-run, mostly residential institutions. But victims' leaders said it didn't go far enough -- particularly because none of their abusers were identified.

Oh boy, another shocking look into Catholic run institutions and the crimes against children commited there. Whoever thought the children would be safe in the church's hands (therefore gods hands) sure screwed up big time it seems.

I can't say enough how angered I am to hear confirmation that the Vatican knew, they damn well knew according to their own documents what was going on in these places and did nothing. Peaceful loving men and women of god huh? *SNIP*

This abuse is worldwide and time will only bring more cases forward untill the church chokes on them all. Canada, Australia, Ireland, and who knows how many more yet too come forward.

Here's the Canadian side of this issue Pope to acknowledge suffering at Canadian schools
