Every day I see more and more things that just turn my stomach. This is just one more kick in the groin. Once upon a time we lived in a seemingly free society we had rights, or so it seemed. How much more can we take before everyone is a federal agent?

I am growing more ashamed of society by the hour. The "if your not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about" attitude is overwhelming. You used to be innocent until proven guilty, now a full 180 degree turn has been imposed, and the people are too blind too see.

Also if you notice that in the ol' days, and today -

You should NEVER want Blind Justice as anything that is Blind can NOT see to bring justice so you get hits, and misses = mostly misses == more ciminals, etc... out on the streets, etc...

Once you finally understand these things your eyes will be wide open to just the little lies/deceiving things that went on in the past, in the mottos of the world today, etc.. that lead to a corrupt society, etc...

This is just sick. I thought there were international laws preventing us from promoting the use of child soldiers. But I guess the Geneva convention and other international laws don't apply to neocons.

The Boy Scouts (just think about their very name for a minute) since founding, have taught basic military principles, they had their little uniforms, they taught many outdoor skills, and provided these young men with a lot of knowledge and skills they would normally not be exposed to.

The Boy Scouts of today are not very much changed for several decades.

These are NOT our future Brownshirts.

Its a bit deceptive. Explorer Posts can and do specialize in particular areas. Sort of like Sea Scouts etc. As a memember of Explorer Post 153 we chose to not gravitate to any particlar area (Im an Eagle Scout myself). However, some do have a law enforcement theme etc.

No way... its really true. I would have joined the scouts when I was younger if they would have let me weild a wicked gun like that. I am signing the boy up for that first thing tomorrow.

Exactly, the skills taught in Scouts pay dividens much later in life as well. I think alot of our inner city problems could be diverted or lessened if they could get kids into troops.

They also teach independance of thought and practive as well as self reliance.

My only issue is that they have NOT changed. They do need to adapt to remain relevant and they are stuck in a rut as it were.

Exactly the attitude that dominates the minds of the "gun-free" sheltered urbanite young males and which will dominate every young male should any of this ridiculous gun-ban crap get through.

If you can't get candy and learn not to eat it as a meal from your parents you'll seek it out and end up in the criminal world or in the government world. Can't really tell which is which anymore.

Meh. Maybe it's just me that's paranoid or something. I've done the scout thingie myself when I was a kid, but we didn't exactly get to run around with weapons. The Swedish version was much more docile and focused on survivalism and stuff like that.

But anyway, the idea of kids - again, KIDS - training to become law enforcement officers just gives me the willies. The Russians do something similar, training kids to become drug enforcement agents. I'm just uncomfortable as hell with it. But of course, it's not my country. I'm just giving my opinion.

Is this the boy scouts you remember. It amazes me how people can't see.

Just so you know... this is not the Boy Scouts. It's the Explorer program and it's specifically for training kids to become Police Officers. I've had friends in High School who were in the program and they did tactical response training all the time. Boy Scouts don't dress down in swat gear ever.

On a side note.... I would watch out for the kid 2nd or 3rd from the left. He reminds me of the fat dude who goes ape# in Full Metal Jacket.. THIS IS MY RIFLE!!!!!!!

Holy Bajeezus, that's unreal man. Kids not old enough to vote or buy a beer running around training up to be armed militants. Awesome. That's about the scariest crap I've read on ATS in a long long time.
It doesn't matter if they are Boy Scouts or Explorers folks, they are kids with guns being trained as militant law enforcement. When are people going to wake up? I hope its before these kids are ratting you out for your suspicous activities or kicking in your door to drag you off to reeducation camps. In the 1930's, Adolf Hitler started the same type of programs and the world demonized him for it, America does it and we want to know where we can sign up...

I think it's great. They're learning valuable life skills, building character, and I'd bet a dollar that most of them are at the top of their peer groups, grade-wise.

I'd bet another dollar that percentage wise, more of these kids will go on to college and have greater career success than those who were not in some form of scouting program.

I can see how the guns and the whole indoctrination-type thing would upset the more liberal and conspiratorial types, but honestly, what doesn't get us riled up these days?

To me, anything that can get a kid to focus on something besides video games, TV, the 'net is a blessing and should be exploited to it's fullest.

I read that too. But don't believe everything you read. Go to the BSA website and you won't find anything about this program. BSA does do Law Enforcement education but nothing like this. The BSA doesn't affiliate themselves with any sort of combat training groups. Check it out. Call them up.

And for ModernAcademia,

SWAT does use that gun and it's not a rifle but a submachine gun. It's an MP5 Navy.
