All this "bigger than man landing on the moon," "everyone will be talking about it," "it will change the world forever" over a stupid bloody Lemur Skeleton?, why the secrecy and the hype campaign. Why not just come out and say "we've found something important" instead of all this -proverbial-
It'd be like me finding a Dinosaur bone and then mass announcing it to the world that what I found is going to be bigger than World War 2, The Moon Landings, September 11th etc, only for people to find its just a Dinosaur bone.

This officially sucks! First of all this was way way waaay over hyped, second of all they are going to present "evidence" of a missing link based on incomplete/inconclusive research. Even if it was 100% the "missing link" I don't think anyone outside of certain academic circles would care.

Show us the aliens already!!!!!

One has to wonder, if this ISNT disclosure (assuming the HT is about the same thing) are we still going to hear word about it on May 31st?

I think its fascinating. It's just a another piece to the puzzle of how we got here. It seems like alot of people just want a nice, neat answer and it's just not that simple in my opinion.

This link provides info on the possible content of the show being aired May 25th, 2009.

If this provides the link between Evolution and Man then it also debunks Creationism. This would change the way billions of people view life as we now know it and effectively destroy our belief systems. Could this be it?

Over-hyped in my opinion. I won't be watching, I'll just read the summary the next day. Truthfully, with all that is going on in the world today, this announcement really is ho-hum.

Great advertising. Well done.

If we go with the "unknown" by author "unknown" we should consider the description given along with other info:

"popular science" and the price tag of $27.95

What earth shattering news can you get for $27.95 ?

"Popular science" is what von Däniken was.

Don't get your hopes up.

The real conspiracy lies in the price. Why is it ALWAYS $xx.95 or $xx.99?
Surely it could just as well have been $27.55

And it only took 56 pages of discussion about a freakin' commercial to figure it out.

I would have thought members of the "smartest site on the web" would have been above such media manipulation. I guess I was wrong.

This is a perfect example of how the media can so easily control the masses. It didn't even require an actual show to get everyone all excited, just an advertisement.

Imagine what they could do if they really tried...

Drudge has a headline on his front page 'EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD' that links to /pm5gkg.

WHY is this getting pushed so hard by the MSM now?

Well today is the 19th, and GMA made no big deal of this at all lol. Just talked about it being discovered and to see it tomorrow on their show. No press conference live so far meh such a media blitz yup. You could have sneezed and missed it, you would think with this so called media blitz it be more. Even if it was overhyped on MSM to get people to watch the show, so far its not at all.So has this whole issue fizzled out or is it just beginning? Like I said before tonight on World News with Charlie Gibson they are showing more about the lemur with what looks like footage from what will be on the History Channel doc. On another note I know Im a newbie and all, but I actually read the thread and double check for posted links & information. Yet so many others don't even look and repost the same thing over and over again, when alot of the time its already been posted
I really hope in the end there is something more to this all, but sadly after being let down many times by THC, it mostlikely is what it is. A 47 million year old lemur girl....or a lemur who ate an alien...or an aliens pet lemur
and at the very end of the show there will be some tagline about "but it digested contents that we have never found on earth" dun dun dun...and then you will never hear about it again until years later scientist say the stomach acid created this "unknown" compound and it really was nothing

Hmmm so the 8th Wonder of the World is not THE missing link but MAY be A missing link, maybe. But they're not sure yet. And that's only the opinion of a few scientists. Who haven't finished all their research on the find... but hey it's nearly all in one piece, so that's... erm... well... good? Hey look over there a flying saucer!

The Book and that picture SkyNews has of the skeleton doesnt match up. The Geology of the rock is different and the hand was also seperated and not curled alongside the other.

EDIT-looking twice I do see a similarity to the lower limb however

this isnt really a missing link though...
news.sky.com...

reading the article properly something doesnt work out...

IF Humans evolved from monkeys and all they found is a monkey thats related to the monkeys we "evolved" from where is the link for the monkeys evolving to us?

isnt that the missing link everyone wanted?

In my opinion it's not over untill it's over.

I won't beleive the lemur thing untill i watch the program myself.

I don't understand how this is equally important to those dates.
Those dates are dates which people will remember a long time in the future.

In 50 years time when you say may 25th 2009 they won't even know anything about that date if it's got something to do with a damn lemur.

I also don't understand why both channels have the info, if i had it i would not share it with another channel.

Im hoping the history channel global "EVENT" has nothing to do with the lemur, and it is seperate thing completely.

Untill the 25th comes im staying open minded, one thing i have learnt whilst looking around on ATS is to expect the unexpected.

Checked again last night and the "To Be Announced" program on THC on Dish Satellite is completely gone. No two hour time-slot anywhere that hints of anything new. Stuff about Rome, Victorians, Tudors, the Fiat factory....

Unless they are going to break in with a "Breaking News" type thing.

Funny thing was as I was searching I noticed the descriptions for most of their programs use such words as:
* Possibly
* Reported to have
* May be
* Might
* Believed to be
* Many think

etc.

Not exactly conclusive.
So the Lemur may be the missing link.
It might change the way we see the world
We possibly could be disappointed.

So for THC to say that this is something that will send shockwaves is a little unusual for them.

They *could* have been trying to clone this thing for 2 years after finding it, considering they have hair samples. Imagine bringing back a extinct species from 47 million years ago (lets not forget this isnt exclusively a Lemur, its a genetic cross between Monkey and Human.)
