Obama U-turn on abuse photographs

What do you guys think? All I can imagine is that they are probably worse then we thought and Obama is nervous about repercussions over in the Middle East. Let's rock talk about this.

Wouldn't be trying to protect the Dem's, and Pelosi now would he?

House No. 2: Explore Pelosi interrogation briefing
By LARRY MARGASAK – 19 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House majority leader reluctantly agreed Tuesday that congressional hearings should investigate Speaker Nancy Pelosi's assertion that she wasn't informed, more than six years ago, that harsh interrogation methods were used on an al-Qaida leader.

Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., called Republican challenges to Pelosi's assertion a diversion from the real question of whether the Bush administration tortured terrorist suspects. Nonetheless, he acknowledged the controversy should be resolved.

I don't know how he would be protecting Pelosi. It's pretty much already come to the light that she flat out lied about not knowing this stuff was going down.

Correction, she was informed... not told. hahahaha, i love watching them stumble under pressure.

Well now he most likely wants all this investigating to stop.

Who advises Obama, he always backpeddles.

Well you know he wanted to target the republicans, not Nancy, oops,

and other dem's that obviously knew about it.

Democrats and Republicans with direct knowledge of the matter. The lawmakers who held oversight roles during the period included Pelosi and Rep. Jane Harman John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), as well as Rep. Porter J. Goss (R-Fla.) and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan).
(D-Calif.) and Sens. Bob Graham (D-Fla.)

I think they are all nuts.

Obama serves up waffles better than Clinton. The man has no convictions. It clearly seems as though he is protecting those who got him elected. Perhaps the puppet masters have threatened to cut Obama's strings or cut off his voice.

Personally, the photos should be confidential as should anything dealing with national security and the safety of this nation.

In the immediate days following 9/11 this entire nation wanted answers and above all, they did not want it to happen again. Pelosi and her cronies were all on board to get to the bottom of the attacks. IMHO they were merely pandering to the nation.

Anyhoo, 8 1/2 years later everyone involved suddenly has 20/20 hindsight regarding any moral concerns over the tactics used to obtain information that would keep our nation safe. The fact that we have not been attacked on US soil since should speak volumes.

The nation has been lulled into a false sense of security and suddenly the critics are demanding heads on silver platters. Oddly enough, if we are ever attacked again these folks will be the ones to jump on the bandwagon demanding answers as to why the attack was not prevented.

To those officials charged with keeping this nation and its citizens safe, do what you have to do. We live in a bizarre new world and we are faced with an enemy that lacks any degree of moral rectitude. For example, the Talilban have just recently attacked a girls school with gas thereby sending 80 plus young girls to the hospital. Why? you ask. Because the Taliban don't believe in education for girls. That is the mentality of our enemy.

This is just strategy. He can wash himself clean of the criticism he would get if he were to support there release, meanwhile the pictures will be leaked anyway. Frankly, I think he’s wrong to try this approach, as those on the ever shrinking right are like hyenas, always looking for signs that they’ve scared someone into compliance so they can rally courage amongst their cowardly clan to attack even more.

So the extreme minority "ever shrinking right" has bullied the President of the United States as well as the democrat controlled congress into doing their will?
Interesting......

I don’t think so at all. Still, I think it’s a mistake for Obama to try this tactic - avoiding any criticism, and then being able to eat his cake later because the shrinking right loves to ‘think’ they’ve scared people into conformity like they do with most of their slave Nazi constituents. Are you sniffing for blood scraps? Lol.

I believe that the bottom line regarding this entire thing is that the Democrats are screaming torture by the Bush administration yet we are all starting to discover that the democrat leadership knew about everything that was going on from the start.
Why wait until now to say it was wrong when you have had years to do it? Maybe Pelosi can exclaim: "I was just following orders"

Maybe the President needs to do what Clinton did. Take an opinion poll before forming your own opinion and pushing out policy.

If this was indeed the case then those pictures would be released immediately.

The republicans are trying to turn the torture debate into: "You go after us for torture and we'll bring down Pelosi and other Dems who knew, so back off." Like so many other independents who seem left out of this framed debate - I want the chips to fall where they will, I just want the truth, and I can handle it.

Then we are in total agreement

Unfortunately this is a political battle in which the side screaming the loudest is not as innocent as they claim to be which brings us back to the crux of the problem

I guess Sadie put it a little more eloquently then I did.....

Any blame put on the Democrats on this topic is pretty much on a tit-for-tat basis. Seems like every time there is talk of prosecuting the former administration....the headlines start filling up with all kinds of crap about how it was Nanci Pelosi or Harry Reid's fault somehow, because they knew.

Surely the information they were privy to was given to them on a classified basis.....I don't know what the "democrats were responsible too" crowd is trying to say here, except that they feel that maybe they are responsible too by not raising the red flag or something...except again, this was likely classified information.

I like most of us here am interested in who authorized these tactics.....not the piddly little political arguments some are inclined to leap into.

This whole thing just stinks like when one kid gets caught stealing, and wants to pass part of the blame off on the other kid "because he was there".

I think a more appropriate scenario would be if someone told you that they were going to commit pre meditated murder and you didn't think it was such a bad idea at the time yet now you are wondering why people are saying you are an accomplice.
