Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't.
Mark Twain

Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.
Arthur Eddington

The weight of time is heavy on the world, and all men born must die. But there are worlds unknown, where dreamers dream and sleepers sleep and patiently await.

**There is no honor in fighting a battle that you have already won, before even drawing your sword.**

Both are in my siggy, the first oddly enough is from an episode of Angel that I had one for background noise one day while I was working, it caught my attention, and despite being from a tv show it holds a lot of truth to me.

The second is from sources unknown, however it was passed down as wisdom in my dojo from our master to us and is one of the tenets of our particular school/style, although this particular phrase deals with swordfighting/war in specific it is something that can hold wisdom for anyone who applies it to themselves in whatever situation they may come across.

And finally a quote from The Hagakure:

There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking.

Welcome! Enjoy, and don't let any extreme people get to you. Extreme from any side. Then again, don't know you, maybe you are extreme. If thats the case don't let the moderates rile you up. LOL

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do. - Anna Roosevelt

A Tibetan Lama I know

"Time to practise (meditation) life is short"

And also the Buddha to a Woman Distraught on the Death of her husband,

"Go and bring me some mustard seed from a house(family) not touched by death, and I will bring him back (raise him)"

(meaning ish...don't get attached as it causes suffering, Love but let go to, unconditional and have no expectation, allow nature and karma to unfold and release it for happiness)

Elf

PS a new one from me

If we all lived like wombles, we would save a fortune on clothes, the sheep would be fluffier, and asthma, dermatitis and cancer would all but dissapear... oh and there would be a lot more ice in the world to for the norweigians to sell as glacial water"

"Here we have a man with a postage stamp for a brain."

Grandpa Steve commenting to a police officer after bailing a family member out of jail for a DUI.

"There is nothing worse than an educated fool; all the book smarts in world but no street smarts."

My Grandpa Steve telling it like it is. He really had some good ones.

RIP Grandpa.
