My favourite quote is:

"Strange time are these in which we live when old and young are taught in falsehood's school."

"And the one man that dares to tell the truth is called at once a lunatic and fool."

- Plato

This rings true today, more so than any other time in our history. We are fed bs by the media and governments and most of the public eat it up. God forbid you question things, people might look at you funny.

I once sat next to a talking wedge of cheese on a bus... He said he was going to a fancy dress party, I didn't believe him.

Me, just now in another thread.

The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think that it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly coloured, and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question - is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us. They say 'Hey! Don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride.' And we...kill those people

I have three and without reading every post, here they are:

Happiness is a warm gun.

Tomorrow is the day after yesterday.

and the most profound of all:

"Pull my finger"

Oh.. I almost forgot...read my signature...

"No, I'm dead serious, pull it!"

Now that you mention it, that one tops my list, too.

Natual Science is a bold and timeless statement:

Words by Neil Peart, Music by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson

I. Tide Pools
When the ebbing tide retreats
Along the rocky shoreline
It leaves a trail of tidal pools
In a short-lived galaxy
Each microcosmic planet
A complete society

A simple kind mirror
To reflect upon our own
All the busy little creatures
Chasing out their destinies
Living in their pools
They soon forget about the sea...

Wheels within wheels
In a spiral array
A pattern so grand
And complex
Time after time
We lose sight of the way
Our causes can't see
Their effects

II. Hyperspace
A quantum leap forward
In time and in space
The universe learned to expand

The mess and the magic
Triumphant and tragic
A mechanized world, out of hand

Computerized clinic
For superior cynics
Who dance to a synthetic band

In their own image
Their world is fashioned ---
No wonder they don't understand

Wheels within wheels
In a spiral array
A pattern so grand
And complex
Time after time
We lose sight of the way
Our causes can't see
Their effects

III. Permanent Waves
Science, like Nature
Must also be tamed
With a view towards its preservation
Given the same
State of integrity
It will surely serve us well

Art as expression ---
Not as market campaigns
Will still capture our imaginations
Given the same
State of integrity
It will surely help us along

The most endangered species ---
The honest man
Will still survive annihilation
Forming a world ---
State of integrity
Sensitive, open, and strong

Wave after wave
Will flow with the tide
And bury the world as it does
Tide after tide
Will flow and recede
Leaving life to go on
As it was...

"Equality is a lie, a myth to appease the masses. Simply look around and you will see the lie for what it is! There are those with power, those with the strength and will to lead. And there are those meant to follow--those incapable of anything but servitude and a meager, worthless existence." Darth Bane

"I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets, looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets, I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in, Got enough guilt to start, my own religion..." Tori Amos, Crucify.

"Man who walks with hand in pocket is feeling cocky"

"There is nothing worse than a waste of talent" mine

""So let me get this straight. You find yourself in the kitchen, you see an eclair in the receptacle, and you think to yourself, 'What the hell, I'll just eat some trash.'" Jerry in "The Gymnast"

Gosh, I could be here all day with quotes I find profound.

However, the other day I saw one I had not seen before and I still can't get it out of my head because is simultaneously so funny and yet so sad (but true.) It was attributed to an anonymous old Indian talking about Daylight Savings Time:

‘Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.’

"See, I think drugs have done some good things for us, I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a Favor: go home tonight and take all your albums, all your tapes, and all your CDs and burn em. 'Cause you know what? The musicians who've made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years...
Rrrrrrrrrrrrreal f***ing high on drugs."
--Bill Hicks

I've been wanting to post that for days, couldn't resist!

and I nearly forgot this one..........

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."
