You do have a way with words. It reads like a play, and that is at the same time the trouble with it. People seem to be romanticising this situation. If this is the way some people think this will play out, then that is OK for you/them, but it will bring nothing but death. Rifles or other firearms will not bring you any good but your own misery.
Prosperity will be brought to you by brains and ingenuity and calmness.

I respect the feelings of people in your part of the world and I symphazise with the frustration of these times, but I am afraid that this attitude and posts like this will be EXACTLY what the dark factions of this world want.

They want you to riot, to stand up with your waterpistols (because that is what they are in this situation). It gives them an excuse to do anything what they want, even destroying the US as a state union. They already succeeded in you wanting that. They put you on the slide of the downspiral and you identify with it.

There is only one way up, that is though our mental/spiritual abilities to grow and help each other. Everything else is awaste of live end time. Every bullet spend will bring the world to it's end. End they know that.
I am sorry, but I think that you are being played like a violin. And the sad thing is, when I read your story, is that you love the drama. You are hooked. The ego is our trap.

When the SHTF my priority will be to trek to my parents land in north Alabama. Currently I am 28 and live alone in a fairly small town around the middle of the state near the Georgia line. I was a Life Scout and have extensive experience in both long distance backpacking and survival. Coupled with my certification in wilderness first responding and proficency with my two firearms, I know I can physically make the trip.

I would avoid all major roads and cities, especially Birmingham, and try to stick to the pastures and woodlands. I figure a three or four day hike. If for some reason I become bogged down and food becomes an issue, a 30-06 round will drop a cow(I know its a hell of a waste but gotta eat). I plan to travel alone and avoid others if at all possible.

Upon reaching the folks place I plan on holdin up at the edge of the mountains near streams with my parents. Im pretty sure their neighbors will be doing the same thing so a community will most likely evolve.

My only complaint is that there is'nt a milita movement in alabama. One would think that there would be at least one state or Constitutional militia being that it is Alabama, but nope. I wish this was'nt the case as I believe militias will play a pivital role.

While I value your participation in this thread, I doubt your ability to grasp the dynamic interplay of the animating contest for liberty. How could you? Obviously from either a British Common Wealth or European nation that has never really lived free; forever perpetual surfs to class oriented societies that allow rights at times, and just as quickly take them away; your existence is at the whim of your king or of the state.

We however are free men and women that have DELEGATED authority to our government; our rights descending from God and inviolate, it is our DUTY to throw off any government that has failed to secure these rights; it is our God granted privilege to stand and fight with the Second Amendment right we retain to secure our destiny and force our government back into submission to its constitutional boundaries. This is our duty, this is the oath every American fighting man and official swears and this we will defend! The US Constitution is not debatable; it is not up for majority revision or to be ignored by the government officials it limits and to allow its continued abridgement would be treasonous for those of us who took the oath to defend it with our lives.

For those who see this as “romanticizing this situation”, this is only so because you have no concept of fidelity to duty, honor and courage. Even though we are far better armed then you know and even that large segments of the US military and Guard will join our struggle; the point is not who has the better arms, but who will have the heart to die for that which he knows is evil against those who fight a just fight to preserve their God given rights, their homes and families, and to preserve their family’s future.

If your concerned about a gerneral loss of infrastructure, assuming someone does something stupid. Or if you are just concerned about disruptions in our infrastructure (anyone remember Ice storms, or the NY grid short) you should have more than food or water.

It drops to -40F in my own sand box for about 20+ days a year. A source of fuel would be a good idea. A modern furnace doesn't work unless it has both power and natural gas. While a generator can provide power to run the fan in your furnace and allow you to move the heat around. You also need natural gas, depending on your area this could be a problem in as few as an hour or two, or you could be fine for weeks.

Natural gas distribution requires a huge amount of infrastructure to move it from a well to your house. The good news is that the compressors that move the gas run on some of that gas and not electricity, so a loss of power would keep the gas moving. The problem is that in some cities they use electrically acuated valves and a loss of power will cause them to fail closed. This means that the only gas available will be in the smaller 50-100 psi lines that feed houses in your neighbourhood. After the 'local' gas is used up there would be no 'refreshing' the source without bringing power back up to the valves.

In rural areas the valves generally are spring or natural gas actuated. This means that you would still have a source of gas even if the power was out, for a while.

A loss of power would put compressor stations (the heart that pumps the natrual gas down the pipeline arteries) into local control, depending on when it was built that that could mean it may be fairly well able to handle that or it could need constant on site supervision by a qualified operator.

My point is that depending on a huge number of factors the gas available to your house could run out quickly or it could last months. You should prepare for the former. If you live in a rural area, I'd suggest getting an above ground large propane tank and in most localities it's legal to have a plumber hook up a diverter valve so that when the natural gas pressure drops too low it switches to the propane tank.

If you live in an urban location where you neighbours (and municipality) would object to a 3 foot diameter by 12 foot long propane tank on your lawn, then you may need to look at a wood stove, fireplace or some other source of heat.

While all good suggestions Patriot, the best would be to have an evac plan and a secondary location to relocate in. Cities and urban areas will quickly become battle grounds and dangerous areas as services break down.

But the truth is, you're right. Nothing says "look the hell out" like grandma and a shotgun. I for one will be preparing myself shortly. The Federal government has devolved to protecting the property rights of billionaires. They protect those who own you, most fortunes are based on prior theft. And we are to become debt slaves if not already, or dependents upon social systems.

Tax dollars are going to bankers who stole the money. The heads of the banks are not being replaced because they want the coverup to continue.

The financial mess is way worse than is being let on. What you are witness to today is the Balkanization of America, while the looters get rewarded.

A possible solution would be for the states to SECEDE and then form a new UNION.

Secesssion would leave the massive (enslaving) debt to The "Federal" government, which would cease to be the government of the UNION. Let the Courts put those guys in Gitmo.

Revolution is not an option, and efforts to pursue revolution will fail, the proper ideological basis for what we need to do as citizens of America, is to plan and execute a SLAVE REBELLION.

Sorry but we see see what happened to you in the UK..if your ok with being carded for buying a spoon,then so be it...if your spiritual ways worked,you would have freedoms..but it seems you have chores for the masters..instead of freedoms..

Not that I disagree with you. But when you are rapidly running out of other options, what then? Seems a war is the only solution. I don't think we're at that point yet, but...

I am curious what you think the solution other than a revolution is. I know I think I know what the solution is...what's your's?

Yes I too would love to hear a solution from you. I hear people spouting that war isn't the answer, and when asked to provide one, they just say something like "I don't know, but war isn't it". Or sometimes they say diplomacy (protests, writing to your congressman, etc.). But, when nothing works, as a last resort force must be applied. The Framers knew this, and were sure to guarantee this right to the people, along with the means. Revolution is legal in this country, and it is fast becoming a reality.

The reality is that we have run out of breathe, strength and time by pleading, voting and waiting for our elected representatives to honor their oath and protect the Constitution. With double speak, finger pointing, vote buying, marginalizing and ignoring those that have demanded that they stop the mortgaging of our grandchildren’s future by their mad rush to a fascist state take over of the private sector, they have shown that they do the bidding of other masters; the money men behind the curtains.

While we hope and pray sanity will return, their arrogance and belief in their superiority as the elite has made them complacent in their positions of power; willing to continue to ignore the groundswell of populist anger by convincing themselves it is nothing more then astro-turfed angry rich white men who pose their plans no real threat, or by attempting to redirect it to their political advantage by co-opting the grass roots ground swell into political momentum for their parties agenda.

When then will we resist? When the chains they have formed for us are firmly on our backs? When the opportunity for victory has been squandered by our continued hesitation? Perhaps we should beg for lighter chains in exchange for servitude? Each day brings new outrages against the freedoms so many have given their all to defend while we sit idle.

War is never the answer? Should we allow them to castrate us? Beg and lick the dust off their shoes? Watch them enslave our wives and children? Perhaps hold ‘sit-ins’ and think happy thoughts until we reach some harmonic convergence and the world is one?

Better we let them have our weapons when they come to collect them soon, bullets first. Even the Word says that a man that does not maintain or look out for, and provide for his home and family is worse then an infidel in the sight of God.

It is written that for everything there is a time: “a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

Every time I go to any of the shooting ranges I have been noticing some very fascinating trends.

As a disclaimer none of this is quantifiable this is merely observation.

First the crowds at the ranges is becoming more and more diverse. It used to be obvious ex-military types and 'good ol boys' who like to go hunting.

Now I am seeing ALL types from guys and ladies wearing clothes I would see someone at a club wear to college students to the computers nerds to the business men. Mind you this includes all races, asian, hispanic, white, black, you name it. You can tell though there is an undertone with all the shooters as if they can sense the storm coming and we are preparing to defend ourselves. You can sense this with practically everyone. Everyone is very friendly and quite helpful to each other almost as a very subtle comradary regardless of race, gender, or background.

The guns I am seeing to are getting more and more 'bad ass' for lack of better words. I am seeing a lot of money put into these weapons. These aren't your deer rifles with scopes anymore. These are guns with rails, pistol grips, ACOGs, Holographic sites, and tactical lights and lasers.

This past weekend now I am seeing cars with the "Don't tread on me" and "Join or die" stickers.

It makes me proud to see my fellow Texans and Americans waking up and preparing from all walks of life.

It is truly tragic that TPTB cannot be satisfied with controlling the world through the central banks and let us be with the few freedoms we have left. They have to take away every last drop of freedom and prosperity.

It is obvious to me they want a revolution to be able to justify the tyrannical end that they seek; let us all hope and pray it does not turn out the way they want it to. The corruption in our government by their puppet masters has gone too far.

Its not just Texas amigo. Even in the Socialist NE, we are seeing the same demographics at the ranges. Many more women then ever before are getting permits to carry and, they are telling the instructors they want them to protect their families from car jackings and robberies while they are doing their 'Soccer Mom' thing during the day!

there is plenty of violence and hardship in nature,man just adds more by his effort to make things better,he makes things worse.

Escape the way you have been trained to think,the way you have been trained to react.

Realise that when you do escape the way you think and react,that you will be forced to fight or die by those who still think and react the same old way they have been indoctrinated to,because you dont react the same old predictable way they are used to dealing with.

You will scare them.

They will mis-understand/fear you.

People destroy what they fear.

Same old circular,no escape outcome..

Break the cycle.
