Congratulations!

It's never too late to find your love, so you can never give up. Good luck with the marriage, and may you have the best of times together.

This is fantastic news! You seem like two peas in a pod and I wish you both nothing but absolute happiness and success. At first I was completely shocked to hear you two were getting married about a week ago because this all went on under our noses and nobody had a clue. Then after thinking about it, you guys seem like you are 100% meant for each other.

An enormous congratulations again!!!

(hoping the 'cheers' smilie goes through because it is no longer on the right with the other emoticons?)

"Wukky watches as the ATS men run screaming; "I WON'T BE A MANWIFE!"

Now all the potential manwife men have run away .... does that mean your accepting manwife responsibilities???? x

That's silly: good wishes are always welcome

There's only a handful of people (okay, a couple handfuls) here at ATS that I can claim to "know"; they just happen to be the people who haunt the same forums as me mostly. I wanted to start this thread here in Relationships not just to announce our happy news to those few ATSers who might be interested on a personal level, but also to thank ATS members and mods for being themselves and making this place where I got to meet Ian.

And hopefully, to let people know that it's worth not giving up on finding love; it'll come through the strangest places

Thanks again to everyone who's wished us well

PS to Wukky:

Just giving my bro a little heads up as far as the risks of dealing with red heads.

Of course I wish you two the happiest of marriages. I hope that you two bring into each others life daily joy and love

Honey I could not agree with your thread title more.
So happy for you both.
There are a few couples I know of who met here, but ya'll are the first to be engaged.
And you are exactly right..that you just never know where or when you will find love.
The funniest thing now is..
How do you tell everyone How/Where you met?

TRUST ME..it opens up a can of worms sometimes.

Congratulations to both of you. Looking at the pictures its surprising how well you match even on an outer-appearance level.

So this happened after going on that long road trip with MemoryShock and Schrodingers Dog? All the good that came out of the good old FCP is amazing.

Next up...Schrodingers Dog and Orange-Light

So far I'm going the "just be honest" route, with more or less detail depending on the person. But I'm sure I'll have some interesting conversations in the near future. "Really, Grandma, I think a conspiracy site on the internet is a perfect place to meet my future husband"

Maybe we'll have a tinfoil-themed wedding.

that would be a blast – don.t forget to post the pictures anyway – but imagine a tiny little grandma wearing a tin foile hat the first time in her life

and maybe you detect quiet new insights in your family: "ah dingbat dear i always knew that you got the same interests as auntie mabel - she met uncle harry at that strange congress down in sedona."

The amusing thing is, I have my entire family convinced that her name really is "Ding". I'm telling them it's Scandinavian.

Wait until her family sees me in my tinfoil kilt! Complete with ATS-logoed sporran, of course.

Well, that would explain a few things that have always puzzled me about my family

Serendipity mostly? Or like attracts like?

Seriously though, one thing we've heard from a number of people is that they had no idea about the attraction between us but that in retrospect it makes perfect sense. That's kind of how it's been for me too. I mean, I knew that I liked and respected Ian, and that he was the kind of guy I wished I would find. But he lived in the Bay Area and I live in New York and I wasn't looking for a long distance thing. Then out of nowhere schrodinger's dog up and decides to kidnap Ian and deliver him to me (Thanks SDog!)

A point of interest: two members independently predicted that we'd get together – TheWayISeeIt and seagrass
Kudos to both on their psychic powers.
