Actually, atheists couldn't care less. Atheists celebrate Americans' freedom to believe and worship whatever or whoever they want. It was a joyous day!

The day the government decides to turn into a theocracy will be the day atheists (or "skeptics" according to you) will be saddened and yes UPSET.

i don't think this thread is really aimed at atheists or people who disagree with a president acknowledging supernatural powers. it appears to be suggesting that even though obama is trying to be ecumenical, there are some church leaders who find his decision not to hold the event in greater esteem, as evidence of his lack of faith. the op is trying to suggest that president obama is being attacked by fundies, and the op's position is that this is the real untenable situation. i'm guessing the op is catholic and this is a catholic attempt to finger point at protestant fundie church leaders. perhaps a bit of well placed propaganda supporting vatican positions regarding the president and his pr machine? i could be wrong, but then sometimes i over analyze material i read.
