The difference between Windows 2000 and XP was more or less the same, just some additions to the OS and new hardware-related additions, in the same way Windows 98 was based on Windows 95, there is nothing new in this type of release from Microsoft.

And I don't have any problem with Vista, I use it since the Beta 2 came out in the summer of 2007, if my memory is not failing.

Also, I don't know of any case of problems with Vista, to me it's the best version of Windows yet (but I think Windows 7 is better).

With the new proc, I find win7 to be as fast if not faster than xp with my old proc.

I choose this processor so as to maintain the rest of my hardware.

If someone is building a rig new for win 7, go with one of the Icore processors.

They have hyperthreading and win7 is massively multithreaded.

I'm gonna try installing win 7 on a 333Mhz celeron machine with 128 ram

No real reason other than I have the technology (came free from a skip)

I will post results in a day or two when I get round to doing it.

Can we place bets? I say it'll blue screen in the install, with not enough memory.

Nice idea though.

My god this is sick, but I now prefer win 7 over XP.

Heresy I tell ya. Pure heresy! :bash:

When are you going to ever learn that it takes 5 years of updates and service packs before MS ever gets a stable op sys? :shk:

Ya know the real sick thing is I have found win7 to be cooperative and stable than XP.

I am sure the XP gods will smite me, but it's true!!!!

You do know when I load win 7 on my laptop, i was hooked up to my wireless in 20 min, seriously!
When Vista was reloaded (hardware failure, fixed and reload by factory) after over 2 hours, I could not get my computer on my wireless network.

That said, I must admit, win 7 IS a heaver load than XP.

It makes up for it in it's massively multithreading/stability and it's willingness to work with a WIDE group of hardware.

Now, for those with a much more "basic" system, celeron proc ands 512 ram
DON"T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ignore M$'s minimun requirements.

You need dualcore and 2 gigs ram minimum to run well.

Another interesting note-TA- is that M$ is right now working on SP1 for win 7, seriously!
