How many other people were experiencing similar symptoms?
When I was in the USMC, almost everyone in my unit got the anthrax vaccine. They told us about a month beforehand, so I made it so I'd be on leave. I didn't like the idea of the side effects. There was probably only one guy in the barracks that had really bad side effects, everyone else was perfectly okay (only getting flu symptoms for a few days).
The Kangaroo story is believable. When I lived overseas (3rd world), my dog bit a kid. We took him to the hospital even though the parents didn't even request it. I opted to give the kid the Equine(horse) version of the vaccine instead of the one human one because of the cost vs. the hour waiting at the hospital with him. This doesn't mean it was made for horses, just that it was made from horses.
Anyway, animals are often used to create vaccines for humans.
What do you think the "thing" was that students who had been eating kangaroo meat had developed?
Is it anything like the "thing" you develop from eating cow meat vs ostrich meat?
Or crab meat vs. shrimp meat?
