Is Violent Crime on the Rise or is it Just Being Reported More?

Here are a number of recent shootings. (Recent in this article means everything in the March-April Time frame)

March

North Carolina Pinelake Health and Rehab Center Shooting.

USA TODAY Article

April

Binghamton New York Shooting

CNN Article

California Retreat Shooting

MSNBC Article

Google News

Pittsburgh Shooting

Huffington Post Article

Google News Article

North Carolina Deputy Shooting

ABC Article

Okaloosa Florida Deputy Killed at a Shooting Range

Associated Press Article

Yahoo News Article

Georgia University Professor Kills Three at Community Theater Reunion

CNN Article

The number of shootings seems to be on the rise. Is this the result of the media reporting it more or are these indicative of something else? If so what?

EDIT: I'm trying to be unbiased in the way I approach this.

(My personal belief is that this is some sort of ploy to convince people a gun ban is necessary.)
END of EDIT

(Note to Mods: Though some threads do mention this general topic they do not list the shootings as has been done here. The Georgia University and Okaloosa County Shootings are very recent. )

I think the alleged surge in violence is just that: alleged. The liberal media is hyping this up a lot more than need be, most likely to garner support from the sheeple for upcoming firearms regulations. Don't let the media (or anyone else for that matter) do your thinking for you.

I was trying to stay unbiased and not state my opinion but now that I reread my post it sounds like I'm naive. To prevent misunderstandings I have edited the original post to indicate what I really think is going on here.

Perhaps civil war of a revolution has already begun.

Seems like a bunch of shootings where one civilian are killing multiple police officers, this is uncommon and something new.

If you check the stats instead of the ones given via our trusted news, you will find that doctors kill more people everyday than all the so called gun crimes. No way are they going ban doctors in this country. It depends on what stat they want to pad in their favor.

They seem to increase when gun grabbers are in power to me. A rash of them were happening during the Clinton years.

Perhaps some mind control technology activated on the televisions during times when gun control can most likely be tightened.
