Sick passengers escorted from Qantas plane

As many as six people were escorted from a Qantas jet at Brisbane Airport this morning after showing flu-like symptoms, it has been revealed.

It is believed passengers had touched down in Brisbane from a Qantas flight from Los Angeles about 6.15am when a number declared feeling unwell and were escorted off by Queensland Health inspectors.

"Under the new practique in place now, passengers identified as showing particular symptoms are escorted from the aircraft first," an airport spokesman told brisbanetimes.com.au..

Dr Young, who yesterday predicted cases of swine flu would inevitably spread to Australia, will update the media in Brisbane at 10.45am today.

Hello to you too.

I agree that the "Witches brew" has offered some questions but some who have posted are saying the virus could have mutated to what it is now by its own means without human help at the creating stage. Others are convinced the opposite is true.

I have my own thoughts but feel its more important to grab as much info as we can, get it posted, confirmed or thrown out with the rubbish.

Im sure tomorrow will pose us many more questions and hopefully throw up some answers.

Respects

It could have mutated naturally but I think that it would have taken a lot longer then we've seen...

We don't know much about the processes of how a virus changes or adapts naturally

I have a top leve contact with the CDC who is a scientist working on this flu issue.......

In confidence I was told

"Do not take any up coming vaccination"

"What you hear in the media and government .....multiply by 4"

"This is the first of many rounds as this mutates"

This is the first time I posted this info here on ATS.......So for me and my family that is our first step......Not to take the vaccine or anything "Bird" related....My big fear is that our government will be forcing us to take the vaccines in the very near future as the mutation progresses with HN51........There is some real evil lurking in our governement and world.

As far as what to do next..........I am working on that.....

But tonight say a prayer..........

Further 56 possible cases of swine flu in NZ

A further 56 people who have recently returned from America or Mexico and have flu-like symptoms are being tested.

Health Minister Tony Ryall told a press conference in Wellington today it would be six to eight months before a swine flu vaccine could be produced.

Dont know why this is just entering my mind. Are there any doctors or medical professionals on here who could give us their personal opinion?

6 to 8 months was the time quoted earlier by the spokesperson giving the press conference for WHO.

Respects

Why longer? Flu viruses mutate every time the meet a different one, that's what makes them so damn scary.

And we know quite a lot about how they mutate, I'll provide the links in a moment:

very good, i estimated about 10% mortality in the mexico cases early on.

There are many theories why, but no one is sure why the mortality in

mexico is that, while not one death out of 20 confirmed cases here. Maybe

time will tell.

Pure conjecture, but it is possible that if you were to contract this strain

now that it would be mild and self-limiting, so that in 14 days you would

have circulating antibodies to it...such that if it the strain shifts/drifts in 4

weeks into a more lethal Tamiflu RESISTANT form, you would be protected

before any vaccine makes it to market! At this point, be thankful its mild, and

tamiflu susceptible...

Just curious if anyone else heard the program on the radio where they reported a possible 500 to 750 dead in Mexico.

Caught it on AM, but in the middle, and all I got was this: One agency (who has a site, which unforunately I didn't get.. sounded like agus?) who has been talking to contacts in Mexico, said there may be a trickle effect to the #'s. He said (I think this guys name was Rob something) that from all the info they have, and they did not want to panic anyone, but the #'s may be closer to 500 to 750 dead so far.

He reiterated he wasn't trying to cause a panic, but said there was a good chance this was actually the case. He also indicated that while the political powers were brushing aside the thought of limiting travel or closing borders, because it simply couldn't be considered at this point, he said they were being irresponsible, and it was something the administration should be indeed considering.

I was just wondering if anyone else caught this guy, or what his website was, or his full name.

However, the Indiana State Department of Health has sent two flu specimens for tests at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and results could come back as early as today, state epidemiologist Jim Howell said. The flu in the specimens did not match other strains that Indiana has seen this year.

I have not seen anything mentioned about Indiana but an article ran in our local paper titled No swine flue cases in Indiana and the above was in the 2nd paragraph? Confusing if you ask me. Do they not report any info on these until they are confirmed?

In an emergency, this could make it to market sooner, but not within 4-6 weeks.

According to a lecture given to our clinic staff by the local boston public health

commisioner in 2007, it will take 4-6 weeks for the 1st wave of pandemic cases

to settle out, then possibly a second hit out till 3 months of residual cases.

That's 3 months. Scary. Not much has changed in our response since 1918

for treating the outbreak - except that strict quarantines were enforced in the past

and not this time!

Do you have any proof of this?.. besides your word?

You have made 8 posts in this thread, and you JUST NOW mention this?

Your last post before your "claim" was an hour prior... so you just received this info within the last hour?

I am sorry, but have heard things similar to this far too often around these boards.... everybody always has a "high level contact".

I have to agree, there is much too much trolling when these breaking news stories are coming out.

Everybody claims to know somebody at DHS or the FBI or the CIA. This seems no different.

This has been predicted since the 2005 H5N1 avian flu scare, its cyclical for

pandemics and we are overdue since the big one in 1968. Smaller ones have

occurred since. Plenty of time to mutate - this bug mutates within infected

people in days, remember there were cases watched by Who of avian flu

where a few (1-3) patients developed tamiflu resistance during the course of

acute infection, and some died in a massive 'cytokine storm' of inflammation

/ pulmonary edema / ARDS.

However, i found Dr. Julie Cox's statements of the 'novel reassortment of 4 different

gene segments' repeated several times in yesterday's conference transcript quite

intriguing....
