People rarely die of any virus. They die of their reaction to the virus.

That doesn't mean there isn't consequences to carrying the virus around. Put just having a virus in your system doesn't usually kill you.

You probably have at least a couple in your permenantly already.

if this started april 13th in mexico city and really didnt break wide open until the 24th should we expect many more cases in the usa within the next 10 days or after 10 days?

with people in 6 different states confirmed as having the virus i dont see how it hasnt been transmitted to others and then passed onto others from them.

how long til it really blows up here in the usa?

im guessing there isnt enough surgical mask at your local walmart to satisfy your local population.

remember how china handled sars ? it didnt seem like there was too much panic.

i think us americans will react very differently if the numbers start to ballon.

thankfully all cases in the usa have been mild but if the numbers start to increase we will see deaths .

You know what the real question is here?

Why do it NOW? What is the point of releasing the virus at this stage and what is it a distraction for?

Dont close the eyes on the back of your head.

Sorry to pick on you, but would people lay off the crazy sauce for this thread? There are plenty of other threads all linking this virus outbreak to the NWO, Martial Law, FEMA Death Camps, Ethnic cleansing, genocide... blah blah blah.

There is NO EVIDENCE FOR ANY OF IT!

None.

This is a virus, it is mutating, it isn't shown to be "manufactured" or "created", there's no evidence that it was "released" or accidentally escaped from a "top secret government lab".

Please, I'd love to see just one thread on here about this valid and relevant subject without the stupidly wild conspiracies invading it. There's enough of that already, please just go to one of the many other threads that link this outbreak to whatever little fantasy scenario you've conveniently hooked it up to.

you do realize what website your on right?

Touche, you got him beat there. This is the place of conspiracies. Anyways- Do you guys think it is slowing down in Mexico? I think it is, supposedly the 1300 infected people have been given a clean bill of health and the official death report is only at 86. I think it is losing steam, at least there. Opinions?

I am fully aware of what website this is, but there is a difference between genuine conspiracy theories, with some actual solid ideas behind them, and the wild and insane speculation going on here.

In order for there to be a conspiracy, you need some form of rational thinking, and there is none being displayed by those linking this completely natural outbreak with everything from the NWO to Martial Law in the US.

It's gone beyond ridiculous, it's embarrassing.

This isn't conspiracy theory, it's fear-mongering and pure BS'ing for the sake of it. Not one person is able to offer any valid reason why they could connect this to any conspiracy, they're just automatically doing so because they're convinced everything is a plot the NWO to kill millions of people.

Trust me, if any secret group or terrorist organisation were to use bio weapons to kill, they'd make it far more effective than this. But wait, now you'll say that "that's what they want you to think!"

Common sense can't win here can it?

My point stands, there are a hundred and one threads on this virus conveniently linking it to everything from the NWO to terrorists and all without ANY factual reasoning behind it. Why not join one of those discussions already going instead of bringing the unfounded accusations and bizarre conclusions into a thread about NEWS (as in factual!)

This is a "news and updates" thread, not an "OMG! THEY'RE GONNA KILL US ALL" thread, of which there are already enough.

Just read this and we can figure a percent from it;

Mexico City - The number of dead in Mexico's flu epidemic rose to 103, Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos said late Sunday in a television interview without specifying how many among them had died of swine flu. "It is 1,614 cases and 103 deaths," Cordova Villalobos told the television channel Televisa.

That works out to just over a 6% death rate. A very ugly number, I hate to say we are due to see a death here shortly. This really sucks. Let us hope our early detection and action spares our brothers from this fate.

Possibly, but you can lower the immune response without completely turning it off, either through drugs or even cold will hinder the body's response.

TWO people suspected of having swine flu in New South Wales have been given the all clear.

A spokesperson for NSW health said two adults were assessed at a Sydney hospital on Sunday and were not considered cases of Swine flu

Will those N95 masks be sufficient for protecting from this virus or would a higher calibre gas mask be necessary?

Now if you use that estimated mortality rating and input it into a general pandemic situation (pure speculation here on out, because there are no assurances this will go away and no evidence yet that says this will become pandemic), infecting approximately 15percent of the population. Around 1 billion people, we would be looking at 58 million dead. That is the worst possible scenario right now with the numbers we have. Lets just hope it doesn't mutate further because of all of this spreading.

Edit:

According to the research I have done on those masks, supposedly you have a decent chance of avoiding catching the virus but I would still go with N100 if you can afford it, just to be safe. (Considering your main use would be travel to some place not all the time use)

Thanks for the reply... I'm really going to start preparing stuff, cuz if this isn't it its better to have suplies and never use them than to not have em' and need em'.

thats right better to have it and not need it. I went out today and bought a bunch of vitamin c tablets and 5 packs of masks that have 5 masks in each. may never need it but it all cost me about 20$ at Wal-mart.

Did you get the n95 masks or the n100 masks? From what I've seen the n100 masks are like 7-8 bucks a piece.. do you know how long those are supposed to last anyways?

You know is is bad whan you hope for mild and still get a disterbing number like this. I just read here. www.news.com.au

EVEN a "mild'" swine flu epidemic could lead to the deaths of 1.4 million lives and cost the global economy more than $US330 billion ($463 billion) in lost output.
The cost on millions of lives

It could take months until this thing really explodes. I started a thread about the time line of the 1918 Spanish flu HERE to show that although the first cases were found in March 1918, it wasn't until October 1918 that there were thousands of deaths each day.

That was also a "Swine" flu with avian flu components. Check out the thread, I hope it is informative.

That is exactly what is scaring me...if this turns out to be just a mild pandemic... that is still a horrifying number. Hopefully it will just die out like the Swine Flu outbreak in 1976 and Sars in 2003.

So how effective would essiac tea be against this virus?
If it has worked against the HIV/AIDS virus....could it be useful?
Just an idea.

I went out today to find some N95 masks and had a rough time. I live near Sacramento, CA and first place I went was a Walgreens which I grabbed the last pack(2 masks) they had. Drove to Longs Drugs, sold out. Went to Save Mart, sold out. Walmart, no N95. Went farther away to another Walgreens, sold out. Found a Rite Aid and bought their last pack. I still need one more pack to cover my family.
