(AP) They swarm the Internet harvesting e-mail addresses and free accounts to spawn hoards of junk messages. They lurk in chat rooms waiting to sting unsuspecting surfers with gambling sites, get-rich-quick schemes and pornography.

But these automated computer programs - known as Web robots - have what may be a fatal flaw: For all their ability to seem otherwise, they're not human.

So researchers at Carnegie Mellon University are designing software that can serve as an online gatekeeper. If you can't prove you're human, you won't get in.

Not sure what side of the P2P/file sharing fence you are on, but do you happen to know if they are working on any software to block the already existing web robots the RIAA and other of thier ilk use to try to put otherwise innocent people in jail?

A fortress ... ok ... uh ... sure ...

People don't seem to realize, that just to be 99% secure, you need to stay disconnected from the internet. As long as your on the net, your far from secure. You might stop most attack's, but there are new exploit's discovered everyday that will own your as$

Point being, you wanna be secure, stay offline. If you use the internet, never say your secure, cuz your not.

In what way's are you secure? running a firewall? tell me what version and I'll show you a mess of exploit's. Let's not forget DoS attack's if someone get's your IP ... firewall won't stop those ...

And I know wich lacks has my FW. But my pc is well protected. He has FW and other good stuffs ( I'll not tellya what

And when I was writing " fortress ", I was not meaning that I was absolutely safe. I was meaning that I was well protected. In fact, very well protected.

Well protected = offline
