Why does this bother me?

Also today, California became the first state in the nation to do its own confirmatory testing for this strain of swine flu without having to send samples to the Centers for Disease Control, which will greatly speed up detection efforts in California.

I don't blame you...add to the mix that "volunteers" will be allowed to give out "Tamiflu" based on the postiveness of your test as you will be "presumed" to have the strain of flu.(an earlier post I did)

It's the scariest thing I've heard...maybe in forever.

World stock markets fell sharply Tuesday as investors worried that any swine flu pandemic could derail a global economic recovery. Stocks of airlines, hotels and other travel-related companies already posted sharp losses Monday.

Star 4 You!

For an ailing global travel industry, swine flu couldn't have erupted at a worse time.
"It has the potential to paralyze travel," says Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, which represents all segments of the U.S. travel and tourism industry. "Certainly if it gets out of hand," it will be catastrophic.

Now that's the part that gets scary...

The economy is pretty much shot already, so, start a global pandemic and finish the job...

What a great plan...

With 30-odd (no oun intended!) million people, California stands at greater risk than any other state in the union. It only makes sense that, with more to loose, the State does not what to have to "wait in line" at the CDC while Atlanta processes samples from all over the rest of the country.

Woke up today with a mildly scratchy throat and a slightly runny nose.

No fever yet, so it's probably just allergies kicking up.

Here is a list of Cases, possible cases, and Deaths per nation. All affected Nations are listed

Also The U.S. Gov't is afraid of the economic cost if they close the border with Mexico. I guess a few deaths from the flu is not as important as Obama's ratings on the economy.

God help us.

WHO to raise swine flu alert level to 5
www.presstv.ir...

Considering the rapidly increasing number of confirmed swine flu cases, WHO officials have decided to raise the pandemic alert level to phase 5.

Swine Influenza (swine flu) caused by type A influenza, regularly leads to influenza outbreaks among pigs. The virus does not normally infect humans.

Confirmed sufferers in the United States and Mexico, however, are believed to have spread the disease to their families and others in close contact.

Yes but California has a lot of problems, such as the 580,00.00 for rent that we just spent on a prison facilty that has been empty for years.
Heard that on the radio today...KFBK. So it just stands to reason that this state which is already near bankruptcy, and has a three ring circus every year over the budget would do something like that. Who knows, maybe California is getting money from the World Bank for it?

Looking on the bright side, maybe some of California's 12% unemployment rate will go down as they hire employees for the test units!

Has anyone else that had' to go out, notice ppl coughing very mucous sounding everywhere?

When I went Friday night at 1230 am to wally, every single employee was either coughing, sneezing or looking very sick. I actually saw two employees in the medicine dept. discussing which meds to take for 'allergy' symptoms. The one was coughing sneezing and wheezing...

Today I was forced to go for a grocery store run for my elderly grandparents even though I told them Saturday I would not go out again for 7-10 days.

Now I have a little nursing experience and a keen sense for ppl in general.

Now tomorrow I have to go with my grandpa to the hospital for his prostrate surgery, Urrrggg!!! I tried to tell him to postpone, but he has watched TV and there are only a few cases in America and its just a regular flu for the most part, not like Mexico.

They are playing the numbers down in an attempt to get this to take off I am certain, ppl will see this how they choose and with the aid of the media it could turn to a global pandemic easily.

I am convinced that it is not going according to plans and that it has lessened, is not the plan.

Now I am certain that since there are NO reports from anywhere in the Muslim world they are sitting back celebrating Allah dealing with the infidels!!!

WOW!! if WHO raises the level to 5 it means a global pandemic is eminent...no good. they know something we dont because the current infection numbers arent correltaing with death numbers. these numbers have doubled almost every day until now. but WHO is talking about raisnig us to a level 5. this may very well collapse the mexican economy and government if it continues on current trends
