So you might have seen my other thread and the pic of the car my wife just bought. We'll this thread is about ME.

I want this car so badly.

Pontiac G8.

It's amazing. The base model comes very well equipped too. They did it right.

Right now with incentives, it's about $6k off sticker. However, I'm still about $3k away from making a deal. I was an idiot and kept trading cars and adding negative equity, now I'm so far upside down on my current vehicle... arghhhhhh.

Oh well, I'll get there soon and this awesome machine will be mine.

Good luck! I have owned just one Pontiac and it
is to be the last.
Look at some old Grand Prixs with the windows taped up!
They are nice cars when new but lookout.
Never again. Toyota, Nissan or Honda for me.

I hear ya.

I've had Pontiac before, with no problems.

1997 Grand Prix GT

2002 Aztek

2003 Grand Am GT - 30th Anniv Edition.

No problems with any of them.

I had a 98GTP. Had as in the ex got it. I kept my toys
and the house. I think it went downhill for her.

05 350Z Roadster now. Nice but low on power.

So, is the color black or charcoal gray and V-8 auto
or man?

Eww you don't want that, it's a poorly built commodore, made in Australia.

It has a Gutless V6, rattly interior (will be even worse after LHD conversion) and suspension from a truck!

Man I wish Ford Australia exported the Falcon, it's pretty much the competition to the Commodore/G8

Very refined

But if you like it, that's the important thing

Go for the "hotrod" GXP. More power and you can get it
with a stick!

I know what it is like when you just gotta have it!

I'd rather have the gas mileage and no leather.

Can't stand leather seats.

Actually, if Pontiac are going the way of the Dodo there is going to be a lot of stock sold off cheap...and I've heard there are about 10-20,000 unsold G8's sitting in showrooms around America.

So it's a good time to buy one if you like them.

I would still buy one, but currently there are not enough incentives for me to cover my negative equity. I owe A LOT more on my current vehicle than it's worth. :bnghd:

If they come up with 8-9k in rebates, then I'm in!!!!

The G8s are great cars in my opinion. Built on a great chassis as well. I have never heard of its suspension being from a truck either, I'm not sure where the poster got that information from. In fact the GXP's suspension was tuned on Germany's Nurburgring. It is GMs zeta platform. I drive an Australian built GTO (Monaro VXR) and it has an great sport chassis and suspension. I sure wouldn't trade it for any two Fords on the road today lol. Personally i think the G8 has great styling, and i have heard nothing but good things from owners, now is the time to buy as well. Good luck with your search. Also GM has axed the G8 ute sport truck, so you dont have to worry about that.

I was joking about the truck suspension, I know it has pretty good suspension compared to most US built vehicles.

I think you should keep your current vehicle and pay it down lower.
Why roll any more negative equity into another car when you've
done a good job of improving your situation.

Plus waiting will only improve it more. Who knows, when the dust
settles with the auto industry something new may immerge that
will blow your socks off. But alas you won't be able to get it because
you were impatient and had to have a pontiac G6/G8 whichever it is.

But on the flip side you have to do what's right for you and ultimately
what you want but you should at least consider some input from your wife.

If the pontiac falls through I'd go for like a Nissan Altima S. Or if you really want a sporty car an infiniti g35.

Did pontiac go out of business? I thought the new GTO's were pretty awesome.

I saw one of the ones with the 6.0 motor run a 13.78 at our local strip Arroyo Seca motorplex. The track is at 4400 feet so you pretty much lose 20% of sea level horsepower on anything that doesn't have a turbo. I was impressed.
