It appears as though it could exceed mach 3.3?!?!?

The SR-71 reached Mach 3.4 during flight testing, according to retired SR-71 pilot Richard Graham, and in his 1994 book The Untouchables Brian Shul said that he flew flew at Mach 3.5 in an SR-71 operational sortie while evading a surface-to-air missile over Libya in the midst of Operation El Dorado Canyon.

As an aid to the pilot when refueling, the cockpit was fitted with a peripheral vision horizon display. This unusual instrument projected a barely visible artificial horizon line across the top of the entire instrument panel, which gave the pilot subliminal cues on aircraft attitude.

Tell me that's not the coolest thing You've ever read.
