Strange Shaped Contrail

This is a strange one to me.

Took some pictures with a small Sony Camera of the clear sky, not a cloud to be seen by eye. The sun is to the left in the image. Also the shape of the contrail in the image is ribbon candy-ed to me. Anyone seen this before?

No but it looks very familiar. Where was it taken???

I took it in my backyard.

I'm on an island in Atlantic Canada.

I can't understand the pattern, but it looks like it may have been made by a rotating object ascending quite fast. It didn't show up in the next pic, but a regular contrail did at about 90 degrees to where this one was.

Are you sure that it was ascending and not decending, If it was descending then that would mean UFO/USO. Was anything wierd in the news the past few days, like something struck you odd???

It looks like its starting to fade from the top of the camera going down.... Im not sure why it looks so familiar but ill flag and subscribe see what all I can dig up.

Actually nothing in the local news and to be honest I can't be sure which direction it was headed, I just assumed up but it could easily have been down also. No noise, no hint of anything out of the ordinary other than the last blow up where you can see some pink orb like fuzzy object just left of center in the top of the image.

Thanks Semper, I'd appreciate it. I see lots of strange things going on around here in the last few years with my camera's help. It would be nice to know
just what this is for sure.

I zoomed in on the pics and it seems that there is a solid reflective object in between the ribbons.


Maybe you can see it better on the original.

Yes I see what you mean. The original is quite large, 7.2 mp, Maybe I can find some where to put it. I ll check it out.

It sure is strange, dkman222, I've never seen this before in my 57 years, at least, not that I'm aware of.

Hopefully, someone will know what it is, then I'm sure I'll sleep better at least.

At first I thought it might be a rocket trail, but looks like thats out.

Do you have any more pictures?

The more I look at these pictures at max zoom more perplexed I become about what this could be.

Additional pics may be helpful in identifying what this is.

Nightsky, I tried to find a place to upload the original in its full size but had no luck here so far. I will take a look at maybe cutting the original up into pieces and post them here for down load. There is only one picture unfortunatly and its a 7.2 mp. Like I stated I could see anything other than the blinding sun. The camera picked it up but not my eyes. I am starting to think its not anything natural now and also not man made. I see what looks like something in the loops.

Is that what your seeing? The loops are also not regular, some seem to skip parts of the sequence. Which picture are you seeing the phenomina in the best? I want to get another look at what your seeing.

All of the pictures show something strange but I think the middle picture appears the strangest because the ribbons look more solid then vapor.

Between each of the ribbons is something that appears solid and reflective.

It is indeed strange.

I was visiting my Brother close to Victoria today and I also noticed some weird trails such as those pictured, funny thing was I noticed it and as I was explaining the difference to my Brother, a regular con trail was being created right in front of us - across and higher than the weird Chem trails we were looking at.

Strange indeed.

Did you hear anything at the time?

I couldn't see this one without the camera.

Right after this there was a larger one which looked kinda of normal.

Maybe its Canada week for strange lines in sky?

even so the vapor wouldnt stay spiraled. It would have dispersed, trust me I have been to many an airshow. Thats not what did this. Though it is a good observation. I thought the same when I first saw it, but I put together what I knew before I posted. It wouldnt stay spiraled and for being as high as it was the contrails would have seemed smaller as well, more defined at the bottom of the picture. The contrails would have been sporead out and seemed to split.
