From what I read, and the people I talk to, I feel there are two trains of thought. The first is that we, as a people, have gone through the extreme
end of mysticism and superstition to the extremism of science and rational logical explanation for everything in the universe to current day. The
second is that we are being controlled by forces outside our physical awareness. You have a blend of both philosophies happening at the same time.
There is a blend of religion and spiritual belief systems, right alongside science and logical thinking.
Whether we are being governed by both conspiracies aganist the masses, or a guiding supernatural god-like power - or again, perhaps both at the same
time - is anyone's opinion or guess.
I have seen people become spiritual, and others fall away from it. I agree the guiding principles and core beliefs of an alturistic nature and the
uptopic concepts of mother nature and being kind to your fellow man (a few examples) are all good markers to govern ourselves.
So as for being deliberately cut-off from this path of life, I'm not sure I could agree truly. I haven't had any experience that seems aimed at
preventing people from following their spiritual paths. Not to say that there aren't such conspiracies out there.
However if you are referring to the amount of attention the mainstream media sources seem to pay, or credit, with alternative lifestyles, etc? Then I
would suggest that is because mainstream media is alot more biased in it's reporting and what it shows, then the average person appears to be aware
of. Comercialism, and profit margins are the new gods of this milennia.
