VATICAN CITY — Four hundred years after it locked up Galileo for challenging the view that the Earth was the center of the universe, the Vatican has called in experts to study the possibility of extraterrestrial alien life and its implication for the Catholic Church.
"The questions of life's origins and of whether life exists elsewhere in the universe are very suitable and deserve serious consideration," said the Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, an astronomer and director of the Vatican Observatory.

October 13 2010 New York New York - Dozens Report UFO Over New York City

Dozens of people report seeing UFOs during the day and into the night. The reports were largely dismissed after the explanation of balloons was shown to be very plausible and probable, though many still believe that what they witnessed could not be balloons.

February 2001 - Dome of the Rock UFO

A video surfaced of a purported UFO lowering through the night sky and hovering over the Dome of the Rock, before blasting off instantly, after bright pulses of light.

The video quickly made the rounds on the internet and was heavily scrutinized, before being largely discredited as the production of hoaxters using some of the latest computer technology.

As with the New York sighting, many believe the video to be real and the explantion nothing more than dis-information, though that seems highly unlikely.
