I was only thirteen during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but I remember that you could feel the tension of everyone around you during that time. Is anyone else feeling stressed about North Korea and their coming missile launch? The " In your face" threats of what they will do if anyone does anything to stop it or shoot it down? Do you think they will launch today or do you think they will sit back and let the tension build for a few more days?

Will Japan shoot it down?
Will the US shoot it down?

Or will this all end up being just one big joke?

I don't think its the same because this one is barely even making the media currently. People are more worried right now with what dress Michelle Obama will have on.

Now on the flip side, yes I'm pretty worried about these events.

not even close, the cuban missile was fear like no other
people were making their final arragements, there was no way to defend
against any incoming nukes back then
America saw Russia as evil men who raped , pillaged and wanted to erase
the US (all to US propaganda, Russians saw the US the same way)
The missiles could reach most US cities in 30 min I believe it was
Being only 90 miles away was far to close

Not the same intensity of of tension at all in my opinion.
And I was 8 when the Cuban missile crisis occured. Now we have a country that has probably just one missile and it probably is a test missile, but maybe just a satellite propulsion device. But with the Cuban missle crisis we had the tried and true USSR attempting to install real nuclear missiles just 90 miles from Florida. And we had a president who threatened to unleash nuclear missiles on the USSR if they continued on their path. This NK stuff is nothing compared to the JFK situation.

Buuuuut....the PR was correct in certain manners. Many Soviets did want to destroy the United States, and vice versa. The hatred was real on many levels.

Don't worry, nothin' to see here, move along!

Fact is, KJI is a cornered, paranoid, aging despot with his finger on the button.

Oh my Lord, it sort of reminds me of Reagan! Just kidding...

The entire world was hours away from global thermonuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis. The bombers were dispersed and the missiles were targetted.

Wheras now, North Korea wants to either actually launch a satellite, or test a single rocket. The drama being created round it is artificial hype.

I don't see the UN being lobbied for sanctions when any of the five security council members want to test a missile.
