Barter as a buisness stay off the grid?

Does anyone have any ideas about at what point you are considered a buisness? As a buisness you are forced to live on the grid for legal purposes. If you say only barter with your crop of organic food instead of taking cash,are you free from those laws? Is there an amount of cash that can be made a year that doesnt constitute a legitimate buisness therefore not needed to be claimed? would nlove to hear thoughts or even better factual answers on the above question
