I hate to start another Zeitgeist thread, but they bring up a very interesting subject about there not being a law requiring you to pay Federal Income Taxes. If true, so many Americans are being scammed out of 25% of the yearly wages. So my question to all of you, do you file for Federal Income Tax, or is this claim completely bogus?

The part I'm referring to starts at 1 hour and 27 minutes.

I quit paying my taxes...its been 3 years now.
It is nothing to do with zeitgeist.
I just didn't want to pay my money to people that don't have any of my interests in mind.
I refuse to pay for war and to pay for thier pay hikes.
I cordially invite them to come and put their mouth on a certain bodypart and apply generous suction.
I will deal with what ever comes my way.

Sorry for the language...hope this is more acceptable to express my anger.

Freedom to Fascism covers this as well and I pay taxes and then get it all back. But good luck trying to get anyone that is not open to new thoughts to believe you. I have bought like 60 Freedom to Fascism CD's to give to family and friends and i can tell you not one person I gave it to watched it from start to finish. They just don't care and they look at me like I'm a nut job for even mentioning it.

Paying your taxes seems to be an oxymoron to me. Your taxes are already deducted from your check, at least mine are because I am in the low bracket and I never have owed. Attack me if you like but I have an unpaid student loan from 20 years ago that totaled $1500, they have sold that debt to private enterprise and they have kept my refund for 17 years to pay the interest and now the "loan" is up to $4500. Not to mention I have paid over $12,000 in interest from my 17 years of lost refunds. All I do is "claim" the taxes that have already been paid by my employer so they can keep it. "Claiming" is a pain to me because they already have it. What they need me to confirm that they have already made my life hard by taking my income? Pigs

I learned around age 14, that there was no law requiring that we pay federal income taxes. I am 21 now and have never, nor will I ever pay them.

The claim is completely true.

However... by getting a social insurance number (SIN) and singning your name on the form for the SIN, you clearly engage in a contract agreeing to pay income taxes.

If you don't have a SIN then your ok (technically, since you havent signed an agreement to pay income taxes).

Another thing to note is that income taxes were originally enacted to help pay for the WAR effort however they were never removed once the war (WWII) was over. It was simply too lucrative for the bean counters.

I live in Canada and we do not actually have to file income tax forms if we do not owe taxes.

Just off the top of my head I think there are three conditions under which you have to file the forms:

1. If you owe tax.

2. If you are claiming for an overpayment of tax, i.e. a refund of excess tax deducted.

3. If the government specifically requests you to file a return.

The longest I went without filing was around twenty years. My name must have come up on a computer because they asked me to file the last five years of returns. Net result: $2100 refund of overpayments for me.

I didn't hear from them again for a long time. Recently, I held two jobs at once for part of a year and they asked me to file again. Net result: I had to pay $160 to make up for taxes not deducted.

Most years, if I filed, I would get a refund. Unfortunately I hate paperwork.

I don't know the constitutional status of the tax laws in Canada but I do know that legislation allowing the government to collect income tax was introduced in, I think, 1913, as a temporary measure. (How else would it be introduced?!?
)

OP: What is the title of your video? I'm assuming Zeitgeist. The link is not working.

wow are you guys stupid??? if you filed your tax return and then after so many years you decide to stop.

It will take them 5 years to find out and then they will unless the beast within them.

Trust me they will get you back on tract with many penalty fees.

If you never filed a tax return and never decided to start filing one at all anytime.

The IRS will not know about you.

They depend on their computers.

Just saying if you plan to buy a car they do check your tax id. If they can't find a record with the IRS they will ask you about it.

The reason is that they have to report their sales etc to the IRS and needs to be legit.

So you can't buy a car unless you have a file with the IRS.

If you then filed a with the IRS a return that says $0 bucks then they got you.

They will know who you are and that your not paying your taxes.

They rely on their computer database for information.

just saying.

If your paying or was paying your taxes you better continue to do so even if their is no such law.

The IRS are mafia type people so is the U.S Gov.

If you don't do what your told you will be sorry.

That fits in everything in the U.S

if you go to school you pay for education services yet they have limits and regulations and rules that you must obay by.

That includes grading scale.

It dosen't matter if you learn you not they get paid for you to just enter a game and play a game.

The reason I say education system is a game is because they only care about points. You the student have to rack as many points as you can.

This will determine what just you get.

You con't really get a job without a degree or a high school diploma unless you know someone that knows a business owner etc.

Calling people stupid isn't very nice.
You don't know me personally.
I disagree with you totally.
I have been homeless for awhile when I was a teen,I have a criminal record and have been to jail,I have no education and I make a very good living.
Based on how you wrote your post my life should be impossible.
Also,I don't live in fear of what they will do to me.
Another point to add is when I was 15 I was alone in life and there was nobody paying taxes for me to go to school...so I had to pay cash and I had to get an older person to claim me,and I had to pay him back.
What a slap in the face.
I refuse.
Have a good day.
