I've recognized this recently. Something that people often like to talk about is religion. People say that religion is a system of control. People like to label other people with a political ideology under the belief that all of their behavior will follow from a certain point of view. People of any kind of political ideologies seem to love to attack each other. They just want to beat the **** out of each other. It's fun and games to them. People who subscribe to an ideology will only get news from that particular ideology. It's sad. You don't have to be a centrist to not buy any of this liberal, conservative, anarchist, or libertarian bs. I've realized recently I have all kinds of political views. I'm not a moderate. Political ideologies make it easier for politicians to control us and manipulate us. It doesn't matter what ideology you are. It doesn't matter about left or right.

Amen to that

I never put a label on myself or put myself in a box.
I have a mix of views on a range of issues.

I am myself....but politicians don't like that.... "you must pick a side"

no thanks..

I'm glad you said there is no left and right...

there is also no Conservative or Republican

No Labour or conservative

Just two sides of the same corrupt and BS coin

Good thread

Religion and Politics seem to be closely related to me. In some Arab countries they are one in the same.

Many good ideas are thrown out because they do not fit the current political ideals. Same could be said of religion, although how long until a political idea becomes religion?

The founding fathers of America saw this and wanted a system that allowed people to be what they want to be and get voters to vote for them but to the sad dismay of their ghosts the system was manipulated into the system it is today.

A strict 2 party system runned by the media who call independents crazy/terrorist and all other types of things.

It's all a sham and people just go along with it. When someone comes along with real good ideas the popular in control ridicule them into submission with the support of Sheeple.

A good example is Glenn Beck. He tells the truth to all who will hear and gets called crazy and a fear monger.

Political ideology independent of business interest doesn't exist. Business controls politics because politicians (being on the whole greedy bastards) are motivated by pay-offs. Think about it! Why would the so called Western democracies support, condone and trade with human rights violators like China and Saudi Arabia. Money.

G20 is a crock of #. The really important issues needing to be resolved centre around Global Warming. What's Gordon Brown's answer to this - expand Heathrow and skyrocket carbon emissions. Reason ? Money.

Interesting point. Are you saying that the banking collapse actually is good for the environment? Zero economic growth = reduced consumption of scarce resources = saving the Planet?

That's actually the exact base meaning of an economic collapse.
No growth in any sector, lowers the need for any and all materials.

You know the Western polititians are a stinking selfish cesspit, they really are. Economic stagnation and job losses (tough though it is ) and the World is in ruins! Sure, when people vote on these issues. Must get re-elected at any cost. O my O my how will we survive!

Did the Western politicians feel that way when people in poor contries had their world turned upside down? Darfur with rape and pillage; Gaza Strip massacre of women and children; Rwanda a genocide. Sure, many good people in the West came to their aid. Government's of the West - forget it.

In fact politicans don't even give a toss about their own voters, really, provided they make enough money before being shown the door. Sir Fred is a case in point. Ever ask yourself how much money Tony Blair is sitting on right now?

Sorry for pointing out the obvious, but:
What else would political systems be other than a means for control? Isnt that kind of part of the definition of a political system.
