Inglorious Basterds

I watched it on the weekend. Loved it. Tarantino hasn't directed a movie yet that I haven't liked.

10/10

Agreed. Great flick. One of the best opening scenes I've seen in a long time.

Flip side, watched G-Force with my kids.

The kids found it a bit boring, until the "transforming" appliances. haha. Not the best kids flick. Not really super entertaining.

I guess because of the target audience, they thought they could scrap a good story line because of the talking guinea pigs. 4/10. Looked ok though. Dr. Doolittle meets Agent Cody Banks. Or something. haha.

Two thumbs up. Just watched it as well. Great film.
Best film in a while. Bar-none.

10/10

It would've been funny, if that really did happen to Hitler. BEAR JEW!!!

The Hangover.

Funny film, but its a little predictive. Not too much going on with the actors, although the bearded guy is hilarious.

5/10

9.9/10

Best film I ever seen.
The story could have been less "Hollywoody" but still a very good film.

Visually stunning, 10/10

Action and pacing 9/10
Plot 8/10

I highly recommend everyone go see, maybe twice, I think I will.

It was a spectacular movie, but too long. I am wondering if he would have been better off creating a trilogy.

One problem, the bad guys were all Americans. Seriously, why play into the propaganda. In Star Trek when we venture out into the world in the name of peace, the Russians and the Japanese, and other ethnic groups are with us, but when we ruthlessly invade a planet, it is the U.S. alone carrying out the horrible deeds.

I think all of the ethnic groups should have been represented among the bad guys, not just the U.S..

The bad guys are too bad, and there isn't anything redeeming about them.

Maybe because of the cost of the film he decided to put all his eggs in one basket, but I think he could have made the first movie about the guy getting immersed, and more hmm and hawing about the corporate greed.

Last night I watched 'Let The Right One In', a Swedish vampire flick. Low budget, but a great movie. Hands down the best vampire movie I've seen in years, perhaps of all time. I'm a lifelong fan of the genre, and this movie was great.

Thanks for recommending that one -I finaly watched it and it truly is a masterpiece.

I saw two over the weekend:

Daybreakers: 3/5
About what I expected....Gattica with vamps... Sam Neil and DeFoe were great... I was planning to rent it later instead, but eh...

Avatar (3D): 5/5
I wasn't as wowed as most, but still brilliant, and unlike anything that came before it...

People seem to be a bit free and easy with their 100% satisfaction ratings.

Obviously it's down to personal preference but a 10/10 for "Inglorious Basterds" is pushing it.

I enjoyed the film, most especially the opening sequence and the latter card playing scene, the action scenes and Pitt's character left me feeling unfulfilled - 6/10.

The Road: 7/10
I loved the book and thankfully this movie was very true to the book. I wish that they would have cast a better actor for the role of the boy. It seems like the one that they picked was chosen solely on the grounds that he looks a lot like Charlize Theron. Viggo really picked up the slack and delivered an impressive performance.

District 9: 8/10
Really good movie. Good special effects and a good story. I know a lot of people were disappointed in it but I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I Am Legend.

6 1/2 out of ten. I found myself fast forwarding through some of the slower parts and the first half of the movie was pretty boring. I suppose that makes it more realistic though as a lone survivor in a post apocalyptic world wouldn't have that much to do.

Still, it felt like the main plot took quite a while to build up and they focused so much on him just going about his daily routine.

I've watched 3 movies in the last few days.

Broken Flowers
I passed over this movie a few time. Finally decided to watched. I enjoyed a lot.

8/10

Slumdog Millionaire
Thought it was good, but overrated.

7.4/10

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

8.5/10

Jack Sparrow: [Wakes up and sees Elizabeth burning the rum] No! Not good! Stop! Not good! What are you doing? You burned all the food, the shade... the rum!

Elizabeth: Yes, the rum is gone.

Jack Sparrow: Why is the rum gone?

Elizabeth: One: because it is a *vile* drink that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels. Two: that signal is over a thousand feet high. The entire royal navy is out looking for me, do you think there is even the slightest chance they wont see it?

Jack Sparrow: But why is the rum gone?

The Uninvited. I wasn't looking forward to sitting through this one, but it was on our free On Demand list from our cable provider and my daughter wanted me to watch it. I must admit, I thought it was great. Got caught up in it early and the ending... WOW.

No spoilers.

Girl released from mental hospital. He mother was sickly and died in a fire and it drove her around the bend.

She gets home and her dad is having a relationship with her mom's live in "evil" former nurse (Elizabeth Banks
), her sister is distant and aloof, and her dad's clueless.

Maybe because I wasn't expecting much, it was really good. 8/10.

A friend of mine loaned me "Time Crimes", which I hadn't heard of, given his talent for finding some rare gems whilst digging in the bargain buckets at DVD stores I decided to give it a go and have to admit I wasn't disappointed.

Time Crimes (Los cronocrímenes) - A very clever comedy of errors and a must for those that enjoy the paradoxes of time travel - 8/10.

In the same vein as "Time Crimes" I also recently watched Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel which was an equally enjoyable and cleverly thought out time traveling comedy - 7/10

Side Note: Any film I mark over 5 is worth a view, bare in mind I gave 2012 4/10

Sherlock Holmes.

8.9/10

Guy Ritchie back to his his best without mad Madonna. Great version of the classic tale. He knows how to make movies about criminals in the UK!

I have a Robert Downy Junior crush.

Highly Recommend it

Broken Flowers is a cool film.

Rushmore, Broken Flowers and Lost in Translation, all see Bill Murray play a very similar character... but i think all are good movies.

Totally agree, Loved the opening sequence and thought to myself "I'm really going to enjoy this" but it just went nowhere and lacked something... not sure what.

I'd agree on the 6/10 rating too.

Hans Landa was the best character IMO.
