Explanation: Starred!

1] Because they were built tough, were cheap and they WORK + if not broken don't fiddle with it! (All technology should be like that)

2] I am too smart to not be lazy ... which is why I have set it up so they come to me!

Personal Disclosure: Ones vainty is only a few select 'search terms' entered into a search engine away!

And sure a picture paints a thousand words ... but with 1300posts that also paints a picture!

and btw, making crack is not "bad chemistry", it's "profitable chemistry".

I TAKE photos (studying photography whilst being a stay at home mum) So you'll rarely catch me in FRONT of one. (mainly since noone is allowed to touch my baby canon!) but, here's me on the webcam last week, thought i'd take a photo, since we'd been out, and it's a rarity that my hair isn't a birds nest! haha.

Vanity is a powerful force, sometimes overriding common sense....or in this case rather... overriding paranoia...

As tempting as it is, not MY paranoia!

I think it's better to have a face to match what we read, and I haven't posted my photo mostly because I have talked about people I know that could be identified by someone that could recognised me in a photo.

You can still get a decent photo out of any recent webcam or cell phone, and seeing as webcam and cell phone cameras produce smaller sized photos, 500K should be plenty to allow a quality image. Not that my comment was meant to be taken seriously in the first place, but thought I'd point that out.

Not at all. Again, my post was in jest seeing as we are on ATS, and ATS is rife with paranoia. Why make it easier?

Not all do, that's very true.... but very few are willing to admit (particularly the female gender) that they enjoy the male attention they get by posting their pictures. Nothing wrong with receiving flattery of course,... I get it... just saying that not everyone here posted their picture for the purpose of face recognition/identification. I think some of the flirting going on is obvious. Again... nothing wrong with that,...it's part of being a man or woman...or human... but that is what made me think of vanity. Posting pictures of oneself on the internet... especially on a site with the kind of topics we discuss is not always the best place to share these things. That's just my opinion...right or wrong. Maybe my paranoia is in overdrive even though I know it doesn't take much to find out who any of us are.

I don't agree that it's better to have a face to match to what is being said,.. but then again it also depends on how you define "better". I think that seeing someone's face can have a strong effect on the power of their message. People are judgmental and often make up their minds about someone's credibility based on their outer appearance. It may not always be a voluntary response. I guess it depends on what you're trying to achieve. It may be beneficial for you to make yourself seen, or it might not. It might be beneficial for me to see you, or it might not. When you look through these photos and you see some of the more recognizable ATS members, what goes through your mind and does it affect the way you see them or understand their message from now on?

It was because of the way you said it, "I do it for your own protection". I thought that could be interpreted as having a high opinion about your own importance, as you were protecting us from something bad, even if it was from yourself.

PS: My previous post was something of a (failed ) joke, as I have said more or less the same about posting photos of myself.

PPS: My interpretation of the words' meanings sometimes is a little different from the real meaning English speaking people give to those words. That's a side effect of never having had an English teacher, so when the words are the same as the ones we use in Portuguese but with a different meaning I may not be aware of those subtle differences and I use them as we use in Portuguese.

Oh i'm so anal with it! My partners allowed to (sometimes) take a photo - while it's still strapped around my neck for security!
