First off I'd Like to say hi to everyone here on ATS, this is truly an exceptional place and I'm glad I could be a part of this!

Anyway, all introduction aside, I caught this video on the youtube, and it never ceases to amaze how much this government and it's owners continue to send this country down this never ending black hole of fascism. But anyway, I hope people do begin to wake up and actually realize that since their inception into this world, that the government you were born under has systematically tried to destroy anything and everything that we love.

Enjoy the video and let everyone you know who uses the internet about this!!!

all you need to do is copy the stuff after the "= sign" in the vids URL, and then click the youtube button here, then paste, then you should be good to go.

all they would find on my drives are about 1000 songs ive made, and im sure they would be pulling their hair at about hour three, hahaha.

The latest firefox update was FORCED on users.
Even when opting out of the updates, it FORCED itself to update on the next execution.

Don't worry, there are a couple back doors on every PC / MAC / Linux machine in this country already.

This really makes me mad. There are too many problems this can cause! How will they even be able to tell which files are legal and which aren't? Aren't waiting times at airports long enough anyway? And how is this about national security?! What about transparency?

It did start before Obama's presidency, but he shouldn't be supporting it!

National security?

What the hell are terrorists gonna do with Limewire?

EDIT: By the way, didn't J. Rockefeller say something about regulating and monitoring the internet in the name of "national security"?

I see to many way this can backfire. It could cause music sell to drop for fear of being targeted for owning it. You may have to carry the sale receipt around to show you paid for what you have on the player. This could make computer sale drop because computers main use would be held back by fear. Even internet useage could drop. I am starting to think there are trying to take the internet out of public hands bit by bit. Where is all this madness going to end?

you guys do know that under the Bush admin, if you were entering or leaving the country, you were susceptible *and without warrant* to have your laptop taken away and have all the contents on your hardrive copied...right? where was all the outcry when this was going on?

Obama looks to me like maybe like a modern day Fascist, they are using politics in order to attempt to deprive their critics of a voice. Media has gone beyond mere copying, people create new media out of old media, and that creation if it were stopped would stop business and culture, literally bring it to a screeching halt, not only would people not trade music or movies but they would picket theatres and clubs as well as burn albums and movies, etc. Then you would see total revolution in the streets and in order to stop what people do they would have to stop the internet which also appears totally impossible, despite what the scare mongerers might say.

I would just like to point out one aspect that I think people are missing. Every day, programmers are coming up with new an innovative ways of performing functions and new code that may be more efficient or provide the development of new products.

It is entirely possible that by copying the contents of a visitors laptop they would in effect gain access to this new code. With all the attempts to stop the sharing of information, in some cases media, the powers that be are providing an avenue in which to steal other peoples work. Would they do it? I would say yes.

Just a thought.

"The URL-adress was containing a video in the wrong format" -so It couldn´t be watched...

And -yes, the new update on firefox forced itself to update whitout me being able to control it! Outrageous!

all the more reason to run good passwords, encryption, backups, and keep your data secure.

unfortunately, I speak more than I do. but there's still

There's only so much you can do, but something is better than nothing.

PGP is good, if you have an older version. GPG is probably better.

Also, don't use g - m @ i l. Lavabit is a great alternative, and actually respects your privacy.

Search. Find. Use.

Well they wouldnt find much on my laptop. All they would find is a lot of pics from work, various UFO documents, Wicca BOS, lots of music and some silly photo shopped pics. I do think they should not be allowed to check anything. It's an invasion of privacy period!

It will not be too long until that word, 'privacy' it removed from the dictionary at the rate things are going now days. Nothing is private any more. Remember the days when people minded there on business and left people along? Those days are gone forever.

PS; The reason for all the edits is I tried to get the bold text colored but the color text is not working

Go ahead search my lap-top at the airport. If people where smart they would switch out there hard drives before getting to the airport this way when they are being searched physically and electronically all they will see on your hard drive is an empty disk with an OS on there. Keep the real hard drive tucked away deep in the bowls of your suit case or luggage..or better yet if you don't need your hard drive full of illegal music then leave it at home.
