Encouraged by the overwhelmingly postive response my
first post in the
Psychology, Philosophy and Metaphysics Discussion
Forum generated, I decided it would be a
great idea to even go ahead and start my own thread.
I suspect many here may find this and interesting topic, but may not be sure how to view the material. So, on that basis, just a few words about the
text.
What follows is taken from a pretty darned old Buddhist sutra. Now,
sutra is just sanskrit for
thread which, of course is different than
tantra which is sanskrit for
fabric. Another distinction between these two terms is that traditionally
sutra teachings are
approved for the general public at large, while the
tantras were rather restriced in nature, and approved only for
transmission to
initiates from a
qualified lineage holder.
What follows is drawn from the
sutra class of teachings. I hope you find it an interesting read and that some lively discussion may result.
