What do I hate about America. I will agree with many that have stated that *hate* is a strong word.
So instead here is what urks me and my proposed solution. (Though it being unlikely considered, but who knows??)
I am not crazy about the way the U.S. depends on
Oil and Coal. Neither are worth the time and expenses.
Solution:Biomass and Nuclear! biomass because it is
simple to implement, cheap, with right types of plants
less polluting. Nuclear, particularly (re:Thermal) Fusion
as soon as possible, however I see no harm with
Fission as a temporary solution. Just as long as the plants are ultra-secure and we find a way to reuse the
waste in a recyclable form.
The unregulated use of Cell phones while driving. Apparently there are a lot of folks who forgot that attention span is really important while
driving.
Solution:If I had the power to influence Auto makers to
include some kind of voltage modulator (or thingmajigg hee hee) that would only allow a Cell to be powered on
if the vehicle is stationary. At the very least let the passenger talk instead.
Nuclear Weapons are kinda Pandora's Box, I feel it's too late, it's open folks. I am aware that I am in the minority that feel that my country made
a horrific mistake twice over. Making them, then using them. Even at the time of development (from what I understand) the researchers nor the gov't
was fully aware of what kind of power it had. I still hear about some really weird things that happen in Japan. (i.e. Peoples shadows that never go
away, etc) Again, the box is open and now I feel that we
have to face up to that fact. Now everyone in some way is clamering to get some, unless they already possess them. Now that our country is aware of
such horrors it can produce, it is only wise to retain our current stock and to *only* use them as the absolute last resort. Regarding the concerns
for a *future* nuclear war, it would be wise to instead of making better or more efficient nukes, to instead work on anti-nuke capabilities
instead.
That may not happen tommorow, may not happen in a decade, but i hope that it will happen within the next 100 years as a minimum.
It annoys me to no end how the Bush Admin. misrepresents any scientific notions, discoveries, or developments only because it works against their
Theosophical agenda. (i.e. Cloning)
Lastly, for the moment, the only thing off the top of my head that I do not like or agree with in the U.S. is the Electorial College. I understand
that it was instituted at time in the U.S. where only a handful of people were
reasonably educated. Now there is public education for well over a century, come on.. is it necessary anymore?
I feel that the EC is an appendix that needs to be surgically removed. Once that is done, then this country will truly be a reflection of it's
people.
Although I stand on the ground that Marijuana should be legalized, it should also be regulated like other controlled substances, and that laws should
be in place to where you spend the next 20 years in the brig for driving under the influence. Strict, perhaps, but when one considers the danger you
have put on people lives (the ultimate way of interferring with someone else's rights....), then (imho) it's fitting.
As far as other americans complaining about how our Educational system is Euro-slanted. Please. There is a ton of information that is *not* being
taught about at all. This also goes for European material. It would not surprise me at all if half of the U.S. even realized there were tribes in
Europe long before Christianity came around to *assimulate* Europeans. In all of my years of education, not once were the Celts, the Norse, the
Mithrils, the (original) Goths, or the Estruscians even being mentioned. I had to track that stuff down on my own. (if I failed to mention any other
Euro tribe please forgive me..) Then imagine if we discussed the cultural history of every one else outside of Europe or the U.S.
Wow. That's a lot of information to digest in a mere 11 to 13 years.(Depending on advancement speed of course..)
I do however agree that it *should* be an available option for folks though. It would be silly to expect everyone to absorb all of this, but it
wouldn't hurt to
let some absorb what they can or want to at the very least.
Ok I'm done
