El Nino study challenges global warming belief
DAVID FOGARTY, Reuters, March 24, 2009 at 2:42 AM EDT
"Research showing an El Nino event in 1918 was far stronger than previously thought is challenging the notion climate change is making El Nino
episodes more intense,...", "complex computer modelling showed the 1918 El Nino event was almost as strong and occurred before there was much global
warming caused by the burning of fossil fuels or widespread deforestation." "It questions the notion that El Ninos have been getting stronger
because of global warming,β βIt makes it a challenge to talk about El Nino and global warming because we simply don't have a detailed record,β
he added."
One of the main arguments I have heard from the Claimate change side is that our deforestation of the Rainforests and human caused polution is the
main cause for the more intense El Nino phenomena. This study seems to disprove that theory in that there have been stonger El Ninos even before we
stated burning the vast amount of fossil fuels of today.
Let's here your opinions.
