I have seen instances of "baiting" in threads, lately.

Hey, we all need a laugh now and then!
I wont reveal any of the others, though.
Theyre all safe with me....

I guess we all can't rise to your harsh standards of maturity, Weedwhacker.

Maybe someday.

The real challenge of maturity then would simply be not to "take the bait" now wouldn't it?

Yes, interested....it IS the point!!!

Call me naive....I've 'risen' to the bait....but I think I've learned my lessons....

So, YOUR sarcasm is inappropriate.

EDIT...on regular threads, I have NEVER used the 'ignore' button. That SHOULD be limited to those who 'troll'....when a member has something to contribute, then I will not 'ignore'....at least, not by using that ATS button.

OK..."Big Shrug".....whewwwwww!!!!!!!!!

Anger over.

Get it?

LOL....OK, Merriman....

Perhaps I over-reacted. BUT, there are threads, recently opened, for instance...I don't know how to linky, but just look for 'Bart Sibrel', it should pop up.

Oh no, don't get me wrong! I didn't think you were over-reacting by any means.
The mod inserts like POLITICAL TROLLING! and DETOUR! and so on pretty much speak for themselves: it can be a bear-pit in here at times, even if you don't see the posts themselves.

I was just saying, from the threads I'd read myself - or even partaken in - things didn't seem as bad as say, during the last American election or during the inauguration period.

As we all have at some point.

It doesn't make us bad people.

It just means we have another lesson to learn, as you have rightly pointed out

I'll excuse myself now, as I think everything has been said that I could possibly add to

No, actually I don't "Get it" at all, nor do I understand why you are going on about this.

I have noticed alot lately that you have deemed yourself judge and jury of other members posts on a regular basis and the only thing I am "getting' from this is BORED!!!

hello people. allow me to join?

i'm the big bad man weedwhacker is referring to and i'm sorry to say that you all have just joined in his rant. at no fault of your own, his thread was innocuous to start.

i never baited weed in this thread or any other. weed seems to have a problem with the debate that was going on in the thread that was mentioned.

weed, i'm not scared of you. i don't care who you know. i've been temp banned 3 times from this site and i've lost over 10,000 points because i get drunk late at night and respond to some of the nonsense that floats across this screen. so i htink i'm very familiar with the T&C ok?

you're really dragging this out far too long and you should just stop it.

thank you, bye bye

(btw, i spelled innocuous correctly on the first try w/o looking it up. i'm kinda proud of myself)

Be proud! i have to check my spelling all the time.
Being drunk on discussion forums is sometimes a good thing, because the booze brings out the true feelings, you dont hold back what you say, or think.
Im not going into the other part of the discussion, cuz i have no clue about the other thread youre talkin about.
And ill add ive mispelled innocous repeatedly, and probably again now.

Try Firefox. It has a built in spell checker, underlines your misspelled words. Right click on it and a list of suggestions comes up. .. yeah, ha, I'm baiting ya'll into dumping Monkeysofts Internet Explorer.

Not a bad suggestion. FF is the way to go. You have to choose your language though. Brit English versus American English. Or just be aware of the difference between words like "humor" and "humour". Both are right but one will get you the red line depending on what your settings are.

I type, for instance, 'humour' versus 'humor', depending on my audience.

Perhaps I should stick with my 'American' English, just to avoid confusion.

My attempts to placate the World Community (aka ATS) seem to have fallen short of my goal.

So, I fail, evidentaly.

EDIT...'epic' fail, for bad spelling...."evidentaly".....What an Idiot I am!!!

Oh....LOL....I am a perfect foil for ridicule!!!!! Please, please make fun of me!!!!

I always felt "baiting" was the equivalent to "pulling the young girl's hair"..

You do it, not to be snide or cruel.. but more for the attention. Sometimes people do not get the attention they so desperately crave, and have to resort to underhanded means to get that attention, no matter how it is directed towards them.

If your participating in a thread, and have nothing useful to say.. but you still want to be heard and acknowledged.. its easy to try and twist someone's words (a popular tactic) just so they will respond to you.. viola, the attention has focused onto you for that brief moment.

How to counter it? Why try? Focusing on it gives them what they want... more attention.

They usually give me a good laugh, so it does not get to me as much.

Hahaha!

That happens to me all the time, no wonder we don't know how to spell it!
