Should ATS Members have a symbol?

I was just thinking, if SHTF in 2012 and we are all homeless and living on the land, maybe ATS members should have a symbol. I for one know that I would feel more comfortable asking for help or offering help to someone i knew had the same interests and probably the same kind of knowledge in a time of crisis. I'm probably not wording this right, what i mean is that most of us on here have studied at least a little bit into survival, some more than others. I would trust someone from this site over some complete random that may just want to take my supplies.

So what do we all think??

Well of course lets hope the SDoesnt'HTF, but the balls certainly rolling.

I think its a fairly good idea. Wonder about other peoples opinions

I vote for the Vulcan "live long and prosper" hand sign.

Its easy to do... and most geek/science/tech oriented people know it.

Sounds good. But where I am living I doubt I will ever see anyone. It would be something I would consider.
But lets hope we never need it.

Ok first of all i'm a chick. Second of all by a symbol i mean something that we could distinguish people who know what their doing. Have you read the survival boards? There are so many people there with so much knowledge, that i'm sure would be able to help the ignorant.

Please explain how this would be embracing ignorance? An honest question.

Also there are some people on here that don't believe Swill HTF, but know that there are others on this forum do and have prepared. I'd like to see how much common sense and rational you'd have if your whole town was blasted to the ground and there was no food or water or loved ones or anything.

If you aren't expecting or preparing for S to HTF than you sir are ignorant. And learning how to survive on your own is a necessity in any way of life.

The Vulcan hand sign isn't a good idea IMO, what if you do it to some Star Treky that wants to just take your money. Or someone who doesn't even know what that sign even means. Why not just a simple ATS written on something. You can get that patched on your clothing or just wear a white tee with those 3 letters on front and back. Simple enough.

Guess it depends on what conspiracy theory you believe is going to happen, but if some of them are true you might not want to be easily identified and rounded up.

Not that I'm convinced that it will actually happen, but just a thought.

To be honest, I think it's a pretty messed-up idea as is the general idea that somehow ATS members are all on the same metaphorical page or even that they know what they're doing.

I also find the idea of communities working together and sharing what they have, producing and manufacturing together an odd one given the fact that such ideas were generally seen as a 'the socialist/Marxist/communist threat to America'. Yet somehow, post-Keynesian/Capitalist economic crisis, apparently this is what is going to save many Americans. Funny how it works, isn't it?

Anywho back on topic, ATS'ers cannot have a symbol to identify themselves. If you have spent anytime on ATS you should know full well. Those that are prepared for the shat smackin the fan are loaded to the teeth with ammo and guns, and spam. Lots and lots of spam. They won't ask for a symbol, they are going to mow down every living being the set eyes on! (Hey, if they're all dead you don't have to worry. Until.. that voice in your head... well, we can deal with that when the time comes..)

Should ATS Members have a symbol?

Nah. Personally I don't believe in sigils. But if you mean 'targeting' ATS members with symbols, like a dollar sign for finance, a cross for medical or arrow for military, I wouldn't like that idea. I just reminds me of a nice tattoo or mark of some kind upon the forehead or right hand of the person - kinda like a 'NWO' thing.

I like the shirt idea.
What about a shirt with a group of people hiding under a table with a UFO above it?

i think its a great idea and they should make a whole thread that everyone should read and know...
maybe not a symbol but a secret word we can use to identifiy each other..
but i still doubt there are many people oin my country that go to here...
but we are enlightened and we deserve to be organized..or yea maybe those of us who want may just build a cult or sometin..(:
