The Mayan calendar will simply start over at zero, or one. The world won't restart, the universe won't come to an end, it's simply the end of a limited mathmatical(sp) system.

I actually agree 100% with the OP. I think its a very subliminal programming whether intentional or not. Just because you aren't consciously aware of something doesn't stop it from programming you.

I would ask politely too, please change the 2012 image to something with a positive overtone instead of a negative undertone. Our beliefs and perceptions shape and create our reality now more than ever.
