I know there's a name for this but I can't remember it, but I wanted to read about it.....ok, so occasionally (maybe once a week or less) when I am just about to fall asleep, I will hear things, it sounds almost like someone flipping through radio channels, very faint, almost like I'm overhearing conversations but nothing is very distinct. It is a strange experience, kind of like I'm not in control of my thoughts at all. It's not like I'm hearing crazy voices, lol, it's almost like sound waves if that makes sense. Only happens at the point of being nearly asleep.

I've read of this happening to other people....pretty sure there was an explanation and that it was NOT schizophrenia. Anyone know the explanation? Thanks..

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Hearing voices, radio sounds or other similar sounds just before falling asleep (or upon wakening) is a commonly reported occurrence.

Sleep researchers in Great Britain and the United States have reported that 30–37% of adults experience hypnagogic hallucinations, which occur during the passage from wakefulness into sleep, while about 10–12% report hypnopompic hallucinations, which occur as a person awakens. Hallucinations related to ordinary sleeping and waking are not considered an indication of a mental or physical disorder. SOURCE

Hypnagogic hallucinations would appear to be rather common but, nevertheless, they are symptoms in a number of disorders: epilepsy, narcolepsy and even migraine. Some medical conditions heralded by hypnagogic hallucinations could be potentially serious. You might consider mentioning these experiences to your family doctor just to be on the safe side.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

When all or the scientific and medical theories have been considered, if you are still unsure of the cause, here is another explanation. Perhaps you would like to consider it, to see if your Higher Mind considers this to be the truth, a falsehood, or to be placed in the pending tray for later consideration.

We currently live in a state of duality, which means that our body and brain are here in the 3rd dimension, whilst our Soul and Higher Mind are in another dimension, which is currently invisible to us. The Mind is the computer of the Soul, and it is connected to the Brain, which is the computer of the Body,

Whilst the body is in sleep-state, our mind and soul are engaged upon other activities, in realms which are invisible to us. It is possible for some people to become aware of various invisible realities, and to both travel outside of the body, and view things remotely from a distance. Both Russia and the USA use these techniques in their intelligence agencies and armed forces, and no doubt so do other countries. There are plenty of documented cases of Remote Viewing via Google Search.

There are also many of people in our 3rd dimension who channel messages from people in the Invisible World. Here I will give one good quality reference, who is Matthew Ward, a young man who ‘died’ in a car crash in1980. He regularly channels messages from his place in the invisible realms, to his mother, Suzy Ward. You can read his latest message here:

www.matthewbooks.com...

Please read it and decide for yourself whether your higher mind finds this truthful. This is to see if you find the concept of invisible domains credible, and only you can decide this, but if you have an open mind, then you will get the right answer. I am not asking you to believe anything, only to expose your mind to ideas which many people will find rather unusual.

Very well then, what I am leading up to is, that when you go off to sleep, on some occasions you are getting a kind of bleed-through of sound from an invisible dimension, into the 3rd dimension, as your body is entering sleep-state. It’s a bit like a tap or gate valve closing slightly slowly, and some water trickling through before it closes.

I don’t think for one moment that any kind of mental illness is involved, or hallucinations, but ultimately you are the final judge as to whether this is true. I hope you find this of interest.

To other ATS members and guests who will want to post aggressive or abusive replies because of the unusual nature of my suggestions; don’t waste your energy, because at my advanced age, I’ve heard them all.

This part I agree with. I have had many instances of hearing those in the Spirit Realm upon just falling asleep or just waking up. On several occasions I've heard my name called, greetings of hello and angelic choir music (best way to describe that one) among other things. It's simply that the time just before waking up and just before falling asleep is the time in which it's easiest to hear communication from beyond the veil. The closer you are to the sleep state, the more heightened your senses are. It's much easier for a spirit to communicate through your mind if your conscious mind is at rest and nearing your subconscious state.
