I think that I saw a story like this posted here, or at least a member talking about it. I used our fabulous search function and even scanned the threads, couldn't locate it...

so here it is :

if it's a dup, I apologize, I'm always ranting about duplicate posts :

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sometime between 1991 and 2001, a regional sector of the North American Aerospace Defense Command simulated a foreign hijacked airliner crashing into a building in the United States as part of training exercise scenario, a NORAD spokesman said Monday.

The exercise was solely to test procedures and was no indication that NORAD had any reason to believe the scenario would happen in the real world, according to a spokesman.

It is unclear whether the simulated scenario was that of a hijacked plane being "used as missile" -- intentionally crashing into a building -- or that of an out-of-control hijacked plane.

www.cnn.com...

Military officials said the exercise involved simulating a crash into a building that would be recognizable if identified, but was not the World Trade Center or the Pentagon.

The identity of the building named in the exercise is classified.

Okay guys, let's hear it, did they only do this because they knew of an impending attack that could have been prevented ?

I still don't think so.

Here's the memo in question as obtained by 'the project for government oversight'

www.pogo.org

I think the main implication of this is that Bush said many times that 'no one could have imagined' this scenario, which now appears untrue. Which IMO ain't much of a surprise.

that memo says hijack an airliner from a foriegn carrier.. not US aircraft. So it's right, but it's wrong.

No one imagined hijacked US planes being used as weapons.

LoL, thats so sad its funny. Talk about semantics.
Hows this for doublethink...
"We were expecting the 'terrorists' to hyjack a TWA flight, so we were completly shocked when they hyjacked an AA flight instead. Nobody could have imagined they would get AA, we were caught off guard"
Sounds like good sane logic to me....

You people cant be for real, just cant be.

I live like 2 feet from NORAD and never heard anything like this before... Kinda interesting. My father was supposed to work there. Are they using this in that 9/11 commision debate thing?

I seriously doubt it. The commision is a joke.

I'm surprised this got very little attention, but then this thread was made 8 years ago, maybe it needs some fresh opinions from 9/11 researchers.

Would be interesting to hear some new thoughts on the fact that 'NORAD had drills of jets as weapons' 2 years prior to 9/11. This obviously goes against what all the so called debunkers say! Maybe they have selective memory?!
