Japan has stated today it is prepared to shoot down N.Korean missile

uk.news.yahoo.com

With the launch date of North Korea's long-range missile getting ever closer, Japan has warned it is prepared to shoot down the rocket to protect its territory.

North Korea's generals said any attempt to intercept the missile would be regarded as "an act of war."

Kim Jong Ill's regime said the launch of the Taepodong 2 missile is set for April 2-8.

The projectile will fly over Japan where the rocket's first stage is expected to fall in waters 75 miles off its north-western coast.

Hi folks,
From the looks of this, if it's true, it may seem a forgone conclusion for impending war in that area. Now that Japan has publicly said that, they gotta shoot down that missle.
Only thing is, is N.Korea capable of sustaining a war against them.

Take care
Wayne

I thought N.Korea stated it was a satellite but other countries are speculating its their new fancy missile? In any case...will N.Korea react if it is shot down? i dont think so...

North Korea say it is a sattelite.
Iran say it is a civillian nuclear program.
Does not matter what the apparent Axis of evil call anything, The US already has it's mind made up and so does it's allies.
Will NK react if it is shot down? who knows, will other countries react to it being shot down is another matter.

If it is shot down it will put many places around the world in a position of uneasyness.

All they said is that Japan is legally able... they did NOT say that they would do it. Big difference between the words COULD & WOULD.

Japan threat to shoot down N. Korean satellite

"Japan is legally able to shoot down the object to secure safety if it looks like it will fall on to Japan," Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura said during a news conference.

North Korea had informed an international organization that it plans to launch a satellite. Yonhap, South Korea's state-sponsored news agency, said the launch was slated for April 4 to 8.

Wow, if this is true, then that means the American military will most likely be backing Japan. Simple answer to why is that we are still "occupying" Okinawa and have a few Naval bases on Mainland Japan.

What really sucks is that I would have left Japan at the end of March if I didn't decide to stay for another year. Well, here's to hoping that we don't have a "who has the big-" ..... You get the idea.

this may be a minor point, however...

If you read the title and link it states "JAPAN" will shoot it down.

Enough US bashing and more actual reading or staying on topic which is "Japan says it will shoot down missile".

Am I the only one who thinks N. Korea is all bark no bite, I think they are just a small fish in a big pond and trying to flex its muscles. But, if if I N. Korea, I wouldnt' taunt or provoke anyone. I think that going to war with anyone is a really bad idea for them.

No they do have a military....that is where all of their money goes. Everyone here knows my anti war stance but I must admit that N Korea really is trying to provoke us into war. Between their rhetoric and their long range missiles and nukes they are someone we need to watch and if they continue down this path they may need a little B**** smacking.

Yes, I agree, they are a threat and I do know about thier millitary. What I meant was, if they start #, they must know they will be pretty much alone in the war against the free world. Who would side with them??

So this is how the NWO is going to bring about WWIII.

It's a false-flag scenario.

Nothing to see here. Move along people.

Maybe so. World wars have been started over a single shooting however. what is of value, is where potentially any conflict between Japan & N.Korea may spread to.

IF these N.Korean's, during the course of a war, feel like 'cornered animals', they do have the possible option of any use of nucelar material they may have. Said material can be used in a number of ways.

take care

If Japan does shoot down the missle and NK trys to come across the border into the south, I bet you that China will use it as a excuse to invade NK from the north. I think NK knows this. It is time to call NK's buff.

Eventually one or more countries are going to get tired of listening to North Korea's vague threats and call their bluff or actually intervene such as might happen here. When this happens, I'm concerned that North Korea will do/try anything to save face - regardless of how it impacts the country or the rest of the world.

Wasn't Japan warming to the idea of having their own nuclear deterrent a while back... Of course it goes without saying they have historically been opposed for fairly, well self explanatory reasons.

Maybe they are making the most of this situation to push forward the idea, if remember the Americans are all for Japan being armed.
